Guys should I supplement my chimpanzee kibble with sheep electrolytes for maximum beast gains?

[–] SARGE@startrek.website 61 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I read this as "maximum breast gains" and while I can sympathize with wanting more in the breast department, it seems like a long way to go to gain a few cup sizes.

Your liver hates this one simple trick

[–] TomMasz@piefed.social 111 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Looking at the ingredients, there's nothing in these that seems unsuitable for humans. But the directions say to dissolve half the package in 55 gallons of water, so have fun trying to figure out how much to put in your liter water bottle.

[–] Khanzarate@lemmy.world 81 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Simple, dissolve the whole package in one gallon of water, and then the solution is 110 times as potent as it should be.

Round up to 128 because watering it down a little more won't hurt you, and that simplifies the math. You put one ounce of that gallon of solution into a second gallon of water, and you're ready to drink. Repeat with a new gallon of tap water mixed with an ounce of your solution as needed.

[–] EtherWhack@lemmy.world 27 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Or just simplify it using a scale to get 1/2 gram per liter

113.4g (4oz.) / 208.19765L (55gal.) = ~0.5447g/L

edit: didn't see it was half a package

[–] Cort@lemmy.world 29 points 1 week ago (2 children)

.5447g? Yeah lemme just busy out my nanogram scale

If you have trouble with simple counting, use the following mnemonic device.

1 comes before 2, comes before 60, comes after 12, comes before 6 trillion, comes after 504.

This will make your earlier counting difficulties seem like no big deal.

[–] Atlas_@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Be careful to make sure that it doesn't spoil faster in water. And that it doesn't settle

[–] Dozzi92@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago

So just drink 110 gallons of water a day, got it.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 29 points 1 week ago

That would explain some things, actually.

Yeah he has a video on this exact thing, I think it was "horse electrolytes" though. Dude got the dosage way wrong.

Not only is that motherfucker going to die slowly, but it's going to hurt the entire time.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 week ago (2 children)

How does it kill you? I'd think humans could survive supplements designed for such a wide variety of animals.

[–] PrincessTardigrade@lemmy.world 27 points 1 week ago

Not a doctor, but my understanding is that excessive electrolytes are hard on your kidneys. Most people do not need an electrolyte drink everyday, unless they are athletes/regularly working up a sweat or missing salts in their diet

[–] MidsizedSedan@lemmy.world 28 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Speaking of humans using things not meant for humans...

I'm out of mouthwash, but I have some detol. How bad is it if I rinse myouth with detol?

I'm wiling to bet its bad, but just how bad...

[–] PopcornPrincess@lemmy.world 27 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Why would a sedan use mouthwash?

[–] RichardDegenne@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Where would a sedan's mouth even be?

[–] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (5 children)

Fuel inlet. The fuel reservoir is the stomach, the engine the bowels and the exhaust is the ass.

To save others the search, Detol is a British brand of cleaners. Mostly quaternary ammonia but they have a good amount of products.

I use molasses to make water kefir, and saw that they sell bulk molasses for animals that is way cheaper. Didn't have the nerve to pull the trigger though.

[–] CompactFlax@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

On one hand it’s probably clean and fairly free of bacteria, on the other hand it might have hair and bugs, and because animals have shorter lifetimes might not meet standards for long term health. For example we dose dogs with systemic insecticides for fleas and ticks but don’t use them in humans because over 80 years it builds up.

[–] halcyoncmdr@piefed.social 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And build up like that is why you should limit artificial insecticides like that around your house as well. That build up happens to each animal up the food chain. Bug gets 1 insecticide, but the lizard eats a bunch of bugs. Lizard now has 100 insecticides, and gets eaten by a snake. Snake eats a dozen lizards, now we're at 1200 insecticide. Owl eats a dozen snakes, 24000 insecticide in the owl.

Obviously this is simplified, but it gets the point across.
