Not a major fan of the DPRK or Juche or the Kim dynasty but I will always protect it against misinformation and slander.

What kind of slander and misinformation are you talking about? (Genuine question)

[–] snowfal@lemmy.zip 2 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

This video's a good introduction on how that country's reported on and how easy it is for misinformation to spread, even through mainstream sources.

Can you give me the TL;DR?

[–] snowfal@lemmy.zip 2 points 15 hours ago

My brother in Christ, it is only twenty minutes long.

[–] CleoCommunist@lemmy.ml 5 points 5 days ago (3 children)

Well we can't treat the dpkr like a saint

[–] RiverRock@lemmy.ml 20 points 5 days ago (1 children)

How about treating it like any other country and not Mordor

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 15 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Not accepting slander is not the same as sanctifying it, it just means protecting it from misinformation.

(((I think this might be satire)))

You never know, I'm just alert all the time

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 6 points 4 days ago

It isn't, though it is a meme. Not accepting slander is not the same as sanctifying it, it just means protecting it from misinformation.

Hmmm. Dog whistle or done for emphasis not knowing it’s a dog whistle?

[–] LeninWeave@lemmy.ml 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

You're talking about the triple parentheses, right? I was also wondering that. If it is a dogwhistle, what does it mean? "The Jews are... ???" Supporting the DPRK???

[–] LeninWeave@lemmy.ml 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Oh yeah, I know it means "the Jews", I'm just not sure what the Jews are meant to be doing in this context. It's a very strange context to use this (((dogwhistle))).

[–] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Before I knew about it, I used it as like a tonal suggestion, to imply saying it Uber my breath or whispering to the person kindly, so that’s how I take it, but find it useful to share that it’s a dogwhistle to inform others who may be unaware as I was.
