"NOTICE

Wives choosing (insert tools here) must have a signed note from their husband"

[–] Anarki_@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 4 weeks ago

No that's illegal

I was gonna downvote this as generic boomer humor, but then I remembered that one xkcd survey...

I weep for my gender.

Colorblind people are more likely than non-colorblind people to type “fuck this” (or some variant) and quit in frustration.

Seems reasonable. But how could you do this to them?! Science! 😂

I'm quoting the source, my friend.

Yup. I’m not sending my husband in to get the right shade. He is a wonderful guy but he literally cannot see color the way I do…

From your link 🤣

Color names if you're a developer...

[–] schnurrito@discuss.tchncs.de 11 points 4 weeks ago

ahhh yes the system where darkgray is lighter than gray

Looks like a pretty limiting selection to me

Speaking as a guy, not always true. I've lost some of the skill, but there was a time when I worked with paints mixing colors, and I was very good at finding the right shades for people who were lost (men and women). I understand that there are subtleties within every color.

My sarcasm would always come out though, when someone would bring in a piece of wood and ask to color match it. I'd ask "which brown"... but then would give them excellent service and figure out what worked for them. Hated and enjoyed that job.

Interestingly, this image is the one used for exaggeration and comedic effect. When they put it to the test, while women did have a good edge on seeing more individual colors than men, both women and men saw colors more in blocks. Men picking out salmon over women's hot pink (group) is interesting. I wonder if that's due to something like fishing or even just a common color choice for a shirt or something.

Green is my favorite color, and it appears to have been done dirty by everyone! They just see green and a few light greens. Now I'm feeling blue.

I prefer this:

Here are the color names most disproportionately popular among women:

  1. Dusty Teal
  2. Blush Pink
  3. Dusty Lavender
  4. Butter Yellow
  5. Dusky Rose

Here are the color names most disproportionately popular among men:

  1. Penis
  2. Gay
  3. WTF
  4. Dunno
  5. Baige

I … that’s not my typo in #5

What about husbands who don't have a wife...?

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 8 points 4 weeks ago

Married gay men barred from painting their homes 😭

returning made to order color paint because you changed your mind is a jerk move

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 9 points 4 weeks ago

It definitely is. But you know what's worse? Returning a used lawnmower at the end of summer, expecting a refund. Regularly.

[–] Cevilia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 4 weeks ago

Isn't that non-returnable? And if not, why not?

[–] Cevilia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 4 weeks ago

I can imagine sending my wife here, with a signed note, just to be silly. :P
