I've read the article several times, but still can't understand why they have stopped.

They do say that they have had no pressure from the administration, and that it is a strategic move to cover wider issues that affect peoples' lives. But honestly, cutting on presidential approval rate, to measure other opinions seems like a distraction

Yeah, this doesn't pass the sniff test. Since kinda backroom deal happened. Cause, a bribe wouldn't be the same as "pressure", would it.
