Whats weird to me is how teenagers look like kids to me. As a youngling I used to love 18-20 porn stars. I saw some the other year and thought "Holy fuck theyre basically children". That was pretty shocking.
Yeah age perception for me has been more like this too. Like I stay the same age and 20 year olds get younger and younger. Which is comically opposite to what middle aged men said it was like when I was a kid. But looking back they were probably emotionally stunted man babies or predators.
As a young teenager, I once went with my grandparents and their fellow pensioners, to see some community theater.
They were all retirement age and then some, and I must have been the only "kid" on that bus. Let me tell you, the ones that didn't pick up that I was there swore like sailors (they actually were) and acted like... potty-mouthed teenagers! I was floored by this revelation.
I've had other moments of observation with older folks over the years, and I keep seeing the same thing. At the same time, I've paid attention to the growing disparity between my apparent and "mental" ages. So, that sensation that you have to remind yourself that you're no longer 19 or whatever? It may be a different point in life for everyone, but as far as I can tell, that doesn't stop.
What does change is your body and the face you see in the mirror. That alone changes how you see everyone else, their age, and how it all relates back to you socially. You don't have to like it, but it's probably wise to get used to it. :/

Nah, I said 30 was old until I reached 30, joined a voice chat, and someone said "you sound like you're 30". I felt vindicated as I turned to dust.

I still laugh at farts, play video games, and have toys. The toys are just way more expensive now.
old gets younger every generation. My dad became arthritic and unable to work a decade earlier than my grandpa and I'm looking like I'll be out of comission two earlier than my dad.
I feel like there's been a dip. Historical photos show people looking old as fuck but really they're young. Millenials sort of changed that. Now gen-z is reverting.
There are people young enough to be my children who I naturally think of as grown-ups, unlike myself. It has to do with multiple factors like wearing business attire, driving a car, not playing with toys or watching cartoons, etc. The kind of classic adult feel. I can't even really cosplay being an adult like that.
I've been having fun watching this happen with my father. He gets really frustrated with those he refers to as "my fellow old people". He's 70 and in better shape and more mobile than some 50 year olds I know.

Age is a matter of mentality. If you look at a tree that looks fun to climb and you think "too old for this", you're old.
If you wanna try something new but "you're too old for this", you're old.
If some kid starts using weird lingo and instead of decyphering it you think "kids are weird", you're old. And a hypocrite.
Of course there's magic number of 60 year old when your mentality doesn't matter as your body starts being held with glue, spite and will. I mean you can certainly try to be young but...
Age is a matter of how debilitating your age-related diseases are. If you're over 30 and got backpain or bad knees you're old.
