Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

That fucking brain worm starved to death.

Well he was going to heat up a meal, but RFK told him the radiation in the microwave was dangerous so he just gave up

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 53 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Please, Republicans, ban wifi and cellphones! It's a winning move and oh so healthy, and both corporations and voters will be grateful. Do it!

[–] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Best we can do is 3g and 56k

[–] frunch@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Sounds like we're getting back to BASICs

  • 10 print "hello world"
  • 20 goto 10

😎

[–] gnufuu@infosec.pub 34 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Can we please not use the terms 'conspiracy' and 'conspiracy theory' interchangeably?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

Even the term "conspiracy theory" is giving the cranks too much credit, especially since the very same set of idiots don't understand what a theory means in the scientific sense. For example, they'll say evolution is "only" a theory....sigh.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 16 points 4 days ago

These people are just the worst.

It's just like living in a version of hell where all the stupidest and most hateful people from your school experiences got voted into office, after they flunked out or only barely got their diploma/GED, and were then let loose for aimless decades into a world of hate radio, black helicopter culture, Faux News and "doing their own research" online.

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 20 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I don't even care anymore because of how fucked everything is.

[–] circuitfarmer@lemmy.world 28 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I really think this is the point of it all. A lot of these folks in power are accelerationists.

[–] SkyeStarfall@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 4 days ago (3 children)

But why the fuck would the rich be accelerationists?? They're already rich. They already won. Don't they want to try to keep the world around for as long as possible? They got everything to lose!

Do they really think that they will come unscathed out of, and live a better life, in a collapsed society?

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 3 points 3 days ago

Lookup "Christian Fascism"

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Yes apparently.

[–] AlfredoJohn@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 days ago

Because when shit burns you can scoop up the pieces for a discount, everytime we have had massive wars, economic crises, etc its the rich who make out like bandits and centralize power even more. When you have as much excess as they have they can burn a bit of it so things go on sale, if the us dollar loses half its value they are still billionaires and can buy up a lot more assets all the while the poor have become even worse off with no ability to get any assets.

[–] xxce2AAb@feddit.dk 13 points 4 days ago (2 children)

It sure would be terrible if this atavistic knuckle dragging neanderthal took another swim in raw sewerage and accepted its loving murky embrace forever.

Just terrible. I mean, the waterways are polluted enough as it is.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The coverage of that story was pathetic

The question shouldn't be "why is he swimming in a sewage-filled creek?"

The real question should be, "why isn't the municipality receiving a huge fine for dumping raw sewage into a creek?"

[–] xxce2AAb@feddit.dk 2 points 3 days ago

That's an excellent point.

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I don't think it would solve anything. There'd just be another knucklehead appointed with rubber-stamped approval from the GOP Senate. The voters are going to have to solve these problems. I'm not sure they're equipped to do it.

[–] xxce2AAb@feddit.dk 2 points 4 days ago

A solution would be great, but if I can't have one I'll unhappily settle for catharsis.

[–] WhatGodIsMadeOf@feddit.org 2 points 3 days ago

5g and wifi are used for mass surveillance aren't they? But aren't they the ones using it?

[–] PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I won’t lie 5G kinda sucks because of its range, but banning WiFi will never happen.

[–] theherk@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

5g is amazing when the coverage is good though.

[–] PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

I’m sure it is, but it does my make my phone hot/battery worse which is not desirable. I’ve never had any issues with LTE for the last 10+ years. It’s plenty good enough for me.

[–] Natanael@infosec.pub 1 points 3 days ago

5G with MU-MIMO and beam forming makes the job easier for the cellphone modem to pick up the signal. Especially in crowds

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 1 points 3 days ago

The trick to having good radio coverage is decreasing the power and putting more antennas.

[–] bubblybubbles@lemmy.ml 4 points 4 days ago

How shocking 😆

Oh good lord...

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl -1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

5g is extremely dangerous if you're 1 cm from the radio antenna.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Even then it isn't. It isn't ionizing radiation, and power levels are so low that at worst case it might increase the temperature of your skin a fraction of a degree if directly exposed.

Just like the sun does.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 1 points 2 days ago

The power levels are extremely high, and we have laws requiring signs and fencing to keep people away from them, something like 5 meters.

The sun also causes cancer. We used to have a strong atmosphere that would shield us from it. Now it's best to stay out of the sun.

Abra-maha-maga! It's not just baby-talk, it's also a spell the idiots are casting on one another....
