But you can buy bags of white candy powder.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago

Whereas vapes just fully supplant the habit and are a different kind of lung disease

[–] REDACTED@infosec.pub 24 points 17 hours ago

The amount of plastic for just a small tube of sweet paste..

[–] watermelonpaloma@lemmy.sdf.org 9 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

I bought a pack of candy cigarettes the last time I visited the US, just a couple years ago. I was so surprised that they are still being made.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 7 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

no longer sold as "candy".

sold as a "novelty item".

[–] Postmortal_Pop@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago

They're still sold here in Kansas as both. They also sell them as "candy sticks" in little packets with popular characters on it so everyone can talk about how they used to look like malboros.

Don't let RFK Jr. see these or he'll have them banned for encouraging vaccinations.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 18 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

You know what? I think I'll go tell him exactly that! Use the stupid for good. Not only because kids should have to use their own initiative to get addicted to drugs, but it's also too much plastic and sugar.

Can we start a conspiracy theory that Microplastics cause Autism?

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 points 7 hours ago

no, it's wearing jeans in a suana.

[–] VieuxQueb@lemmy.ca 3 points 9 hours ago

For the current administration you want to say it causes gayness ! They will ban plastic like it was the worst.

Real Cheese™

[–] tpihkal@lemmy.world 59 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Wow, that completely explains this heroin addiction.

[–] loki518@feddit.org 1 points 1 day ago

baseball, huh

[–] ThomasWilliams@lemmy.world 3 points 20 hours ago

Its starts with sherbet powder, by high school they're snorting cocaine off the toilet seats...

[–] Grimy@lemmy.world 29 points 1 day ago

It's insane that we ban kinder eggs but don't ban "baby's first heroin needle". This has to stop.

[–] null@lemmy.org 21 points 1 day ago

Since candy cigarettes are illigal they just made the cigarettes candy flavored.

[–] Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de 37 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

That's a gateway drug. They start with one of those after school and the next thing you know they're sniffing pixie sticks off the stomach of a janitor and selling grandma's urn for a single Laffy Taffy.

INJECT THE BLUE RASPBERRY JUICE DIRECTLY INTO MY VEEEEEEEIIIIIIINSSSSS!

[–] jqubed@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Where else would it go? The veins are blue!

[–] Lag@piefed.world 7 points 22 hours ago

The square hole.

[–] Proprietary_Blend@lemmy.world 7 points 20 hours ago

Mystery boxes teach them to gamble

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 16 points 1 day ago

Literally called "Sweet Addiction". LOL WTF.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Illegal where? I have to go to a novelty candy store in my area, because it's the only place I can think of that sells them....but it's legal here.

I'm not sure it's legal to call them candy cigarettes though - I've always seen them called something else. Yup, it's illegal to call them cigarettes in the US, and they vary in legality elsewhere.

I only ever see them for sale in places that sell old fashioned candy, I think their decline has to do with the fact they just don't taste very good (in addition to the changing cultural opinions about cigarettes, but I bet they've declined even in places where a large percentage of adults still smoke).

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's not illegal here, but sufficiently heavily discouraged and socially frowned upon that indeed, you have to look hard to find em.

Instead, we let 11 year olds order vapes from china now.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 2 points 23 hours ago

Ha ha ha, yeah. Not like when I was a kid in the 80s, and everybody smoked. Walls were just brown.

Just....all walls.

So glad that as generations went on, smoking habits have seemed to fall off a cliff.

Instead, we let 11 year olds order vapes from china now.

Wait, what?

[–] Waraugh@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 day ago

This narrative has always confused me because they sit on the shelf at my Kroger

[–] GreenDust@lemmings.world 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

because it's the only place I can think of that sells them....

Because they're illegal to sell elsewhere 🤯

[–] Waraugh@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 1 day ago

I can go to my Kroger and buy them right now though

[–] Tapirs_Are_AI_Slop@lemmy.org 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Can I use a luer lock style needle with these?

[–] AWTM_James@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

These look like they use the inferior Luer slip needles

[–] Tapirs_Are_AI_Slop@lemmy.org 3 points 1 day ago

Crap, I'm out with these generic candy syringes. I need the good stuff.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 22 hours ago

Oh those suck

[–] Asidonhopo@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago

Just like mommy! See, because one of the quickest ways to get treatment for heroin addiction is to get pregnant. I wonder if it's a 2 digit percentage of births nationwide at this point.
