It pisses me off how this is the second time Danielle Smith's party is going to get bailed out by a war.

They're terrible at running the province 99% of the time, but the moment it seems like the consequences might finally catch up – nope! The price of oil jumps and everyone says "oh yeah, I guess they're doing fine," and stops paying attention again.

This is how capitalism works, company build up an excess and are rewarded when shortages develop. This is what encourages surpluses that prevent rationing, by shoving your hand in you disturb this process and cause greater shortage in the future.
