Humble bundle is the reason for this...

If it makes you feel any worse, I pirate most of my games and I've played almost all of them

A reminder that you can share your games with friends using Family Share and expand your and your friends' library by a lot without spending a dime.

my wife & i do this, now we have at least 2x as many unplayed games

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

That was an amazing feature for sure. Being able to share games with my kid so I don’t have to buy him copies of them everything, unless it’s a game we play together

[–] anton2492@lemmy.nz 5 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

It's still a feature, a decent one despite some restrictions here and there. I use it myself and get an extra copy if the publisher restricts sharing.

Here's Steam's FAQ on it:

Steam Families (Steam Family Sharing) - FAQ

Sorry I said was past tense. Idk why. But yes I do use it. It’s nice that it shows how many copies are in your family too

there's a launcher that will select a random unplayed game from your library. Load that bad boy up and give 20 minutes to something new to see if you like it. I have never regretted doing it

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 7 points 4 hours ago

What’s it called?

Better to buy a Steam game at full price at the time you want to play it, rather than a 100 games at 90% off when you will never play any of them - Confucius

No, no, no. The pro move is, you pirate a game you think you want and don't have the buyer's remorse feeling.

That's the pro move.

Then you 'demo' the game. It's all on you though should you buy the game anyways.

[–] Ryoae@piefed.social 7 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I don't know why this kind of thing is normalized.

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 15 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Idk that it is. Humble Bundle is partly to blame for my collection. You see deals where there’s like a game or two you want and just buy the lot. The other part is nostalgia purchases that you tell yourself you’ll play and then don’t. The last part is friends telling you “dude we gotta play this game” so you buy it, then it’s dead after a week or so due to another game or scheduling conflicts, or your one friend hosts the game and is never on when y’all are.

[–] basxto@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 4 hours ago

Definitely bought bundles because a game looked cool and never played any of them.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 5 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

I always play them at least a little bit if I paid for them. What if they suck? There's a cutoff for when they can be refunded. I can play for 15-20 minutes and determine if I want to play more. If not, I'll just take my money back.

Free games, tho...
