I do this mostly/only with customers and some co-workers but if you're my friend/loved family member and your ignorance can lead you away from virtue, you're getting an earful (and you better be grateful I took my time to educate you, as I would've been had you done the same for me).

I only do this when I’m reasonably sure we disagree and it will potentially start an argument. I enjoy explaining things to people and figuring out how to get them to understand. It’s communication skills, and I practice them frequently.

Biting my tongue, though, is so so so hard. Very worth it, especially in public, but so so hard.

I think this is what is considered “an asshole move”

in a corporate environment it's call project mitigation or scope mitigation.

"I'm not owning that pile of shit because I'm the only one here qualified to talk about it."

The opposite actually, it's the only way to avoid unnecessary clashes because some people have temper tantrums when their half-baked ideology is challenged. 🤷

I know, but IDK how to make you understand it.

I'm learning not to explain things to someone more than three times. If it has passed through their head three times without leaving a mark, the fourth time is not going to do the trick.
