Hm, I thought this was going to be about ICE or something after the first paragraph.
Fuck AI
"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"
A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.
AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
I mean there is a tormentor that is tracking your every movement through every device you own and its called "big tech". At least as long as you visit any websites or services where their spyware is embedded.
Yeah idk about this one lol, like yes AI sucks but using it to bullet point out how surveiled we all are by big tech corps so you can email some dumb columnist that can't see it seems like a pretty innocuous and hilariously ironic use of it all things considered.
And they are spying on you. Yes you, whoever is reading this right now. They're automating spying on all of us. It is a problem.
But the AI psychosis is only confirming the suspicions that there is a spying tormentor, but not pointing out the spying tormentor. It's fueling delusions with incomplete half-accurate information getting people into heightened states of paranoia. There's just enough correct information that anything can fit into the gaps and it feels like you came up with the solution.
Emailing a columnist your AI driven paranoia is a symptom and precursor to so much worse. What happens when the wrong editor phrases something badly or dismisses the paranoia as just the ramblings of an insane person? Well maybe that editor is in cahoots with the tormentor covering for them in the mind of the paranoid, they're now a target because they're helping the tormentor.
The problem is the paranoia is justified, there is a tormentor, its the corporations that created these chatbots, the corporations that are constantly surveiling us, but that's not where the random violence will be directed.
That's fair, it'd have to be specific, Alphabet this, Meta that, Palantir and whatnot, go Flock yourself (lol).
Though
Well maybe that editor is in cahoots with the tormentor covering for them
Are they with Sinclair Broadcasting or iHeart Media (formerly Clear Channel Communications)? Cause...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chatbot_psychosis is real, but so is surveillance capitalism's drive for full spectrum dominance :(
We need an anime / light novel in which a MC tracks down their tormentor and indeed discovers that it is big tech. And that MC has burned a huge sum of money in AI tokens (and exposed every detail of their lives to big tech) while figuring this out.
