Flippant Anarchism. A lighter take on social criticism with the aim of agitation.

Post humorous takes on capitalism and the states which prop it up. Memes, shitposting, screenshots of humorous good takes, discussions making fun of some reactionary online, it all works.

This community is anarchist-flavored. Reactionary takes won't be tolerated.

Don't take yourselves too seriously. Serious posts go to !anarchism@lemmy.dbzer0.com

Vader was against the Death Star. It was Tarkin who blew up the planet.

My wife likes watching "cop vs Karen" videos on YouTube. One day, one came up of this cop who was harassing this mother in a Walmart security room. She had stolen some formula and some other stuff for her baby and they were giving her a hard time and she's just like "look I'm doing the best I can here, I work two jobs, my paychecks don't cover basic needs and utilities, and I'm not stealing from a mom and pop here."

"To protect and serve" is correct, but it's not to protect and serve you, it's to protect and serve corporate profits.

I'm not saying stealing is necessarily right, but if you have to steal to live, better to steal it from someone who doesn't need it, won't miss it, and will still be able to pay the bills than someone else who's struggling. But in an ideal society, she wouldn't have to steal baby formula at all.

Broke: Stealing is wrong

Woke: Stealing is sometimes a necessity, given the economic realities forced on us by our billionaire overlords

Bespoke: Stealing is praxis

If you see someone stealing food : no you dont

Baby formula, food, clothes etc. being withheld from people who need it for the sake of corporate profits is violence. Stealing is completely right in that scenario, just like occupying a place to live is morally just when homes are withheld for the sake of speculation. You don't have to hedge on that point at all.

I can already feel that what should be a short message about the meme will turn into a big rant on my side... I will not be sorry for that.

To understand why the Police is evil in the mind of most people who share our worldview, we first must understand that they are in fact not evil, or rather not more evil than antibodies which we have in our blood. To even begin comprehending how it works we need to see the government as an organism. Indeed the government even evolved in the most animalistic way, were the fittest survived, and so different traits mixed until a representative democracy emerged. A system so robust that it could reemerge from chaos with no determent to it self, a system perfected to a degree that it could change even major aspects of itself to survive, a system which finally solved one of the biggest problems it had, its dependence upon a human leader.

This very system has only one thing which allows it to exist, the monopoly on violence, and its ability to grant mandates of it. if we look to most governments we will see that the severest punishment always is bound to the challenge of this very monopoly. And yet the government can not just be, inaction would lead to its death, it needs to care for its subjects else they would simply flee, it needs to try and make its subjects happy. And so… it does, although simply forcing each subject to receive opioids would be easier this would soon result in its death as well. After years, decades and centuries the government understood that the best way to survive, to endure is to be akin to a parasite. A Society needs no government, no one to look over its shoulder, any and all problems can be solved, of course there would be those who would wish to use violence themself, and yet such would be still far less evil in its application than any action of the government. So the government binds it self to society and akin to a parasite it starts out small, just a language which everyone speaks and which has the same grammar, just a standard of something so that everyone would knew that to expect. Indeed such small actions of the government can hardly be seen as negative, after all they provide major benefits with little to no negative sides to it. However once this parasite takes root it begins to grow, each small step for this parasite is layed by good intentions of the people and it leads to damnation.

I want you, person who reads this to think a little with me. I want us to think of what intentions where put into the design of this system by people unwittingly helping the parasite to grow. We shall do so on the example of Police. Long before Police and the Military were separated they were one in their function, the protection of the people from harm. This harm could come in different flavours, from an invading force to a fellow human who wanted to take something from you. But such a force naturally couldn’t sustain it self, and so they became a militia. While usage of violence was not needed they were ordinary people working their craft. The good intentions here are clear, to protect one self and to protect the society, which too is akin to an organism. Then came the next step, and a rift, a permanent Police force, of course it wasn’t called that but it is what it was. The intention? Once again as pure as it gets, to protect you from harm which would come from others, and you of course said “YES!” to that, the corruption already begins to show. Before there would not be a use for such a force, yes there could be someone mad in your society who could kill you because of their illness, but that was a rare thing. So why now? What changed to make this occurrence a problem warranting a special profession? Well… I don’t know, I do not know what was the reason for the first government ever created, what was the reason for the first ruler to ever rule. I know that whatever the reason, by the time of the first police officer, what we now call crime was already a product of desperation and inequality, but for you living back then it was preposterous after all you didn’t do crime, why did they? And so none became one, became two, became three, became four… Yet even back then Police was protecting the people, indeed from the problems created by the government, but still protecting the people. It took a lot of work from the parasite to completely corrupt them, and what we have now emerged.

If before the king had guards, to protect him and enforce his will upon his subjects, but who is king now? The government! And who is the government? The people! And so the guards became the police protecting the ~~King~~ people.

Now lets return to the mandate of violence, it is not enough for the holder of the monopoly to just have it, it must show that it is holding it, in this way the government is akin to a god, it has unlimited power, but if we no longer believe in them… they cease to exist, they need to remind everyone they have that power. And so whenever it can the government will display its power, not necessary in the form of violence, but always with the shadow of it in the back. Anytime a person does not follow a rule, no mater how good or bad it might be for the socium, they will be reminded by an other, or by their mind, that if the government spots their transgression it will send its thralls after them.

One may question then, why does the government protect corporations and the rich? And the answer is, it doesn’t, it protects them for the same reason it will try to protect someone who is about to be raped. Not because it want to protect them, but the because whoever is doing what the corporation, the rich, the poor need protection from, is doing so without the governments mandate. To tax, to steal, to execute, to murder, to enslave, to imprison, to traffic humans, to deport. All of it is the same, and yet different, the difference is that one is done by someone who has received a mandate from the government, and the other who did not. The same applies to the rich and poor, they may do horrible things, if they have received the mandate, only after they have placated themself to the government, showed that they understand that they are nothing but vermin to be stepped on, will the government allow them to do something. A normal human will not do so, and that throws the government into rage, the very notion of freedom, that government is not needed is horror to it. Indeed it should be, after all if to many stop believing it it will dissolve.

I would like to end this tirade by saying that it is no more evil for the police to hit a pregnant woman for stealing formula, than it is for a lion to devour an antelope, if they would not do so, they would cease to exist. However I ask of you not to misunderstand what I have written as my complaisance to it, to understand the parasite is to understand how to cut it out. And only in understanding it we can, maybe, just maybe, stop it from changing into something different again as it did so often already.

Love your people, hate the government!

I live in a democracy. I am the government.

If your country isn't democratic, I suggest you change that.

well, sometimes cops get a politician or top manager. this is more about how crime is reported to them and what the prosecuter needs to give them a warrant. nobody is patrolling inside bank offices etc.. i doubt some clerk calls 911 if they suspect embezzlement. these things are often intentionally obscured and less obvious than what a cashier can see happening in the store, for example.
