This is a great history lesson and explanation for how useful mesh nodes can be.

Basically on a haven node you can fool apps like facetime apparently to enable video calls without apple servers involved because they only check for internet connectivity but don't seem to actually need to use it for the video stream. And that we apparently didn't notice this because we usually have internet connectivity that facilitates using apple servers and such.

You'd be better off going to openmanet.net and reading the docs or getting on the discord. That data slayer guy doesn't contribute back to the community.

Yeah, he had some decent videos on halow as well. But he wanted people to pay for his instructions on how to set up the stack. If I'm going to be paying for something on that front I want it to do more than tell me how to set the stack up I want it to do it for me. A donation model would have been much more palatable.

You're seriously not going to be making much money of any sort on such a niche thing. You'd seriously get a better return on time and effort to put into it by popularizing and supporting it.

Yeah it was more of a warning from buying the pdf. I havent checked for updates but it was a stream of consciousness retelling of the openmanet docs.

These things are really cool and are helping people in Ukraine today!

I built 4 nodes myself.

Yes at this point I'm looking at the hardware trying to decide on what to go with and how to set it up. I would like to have a small open network in my community. Hosting local services Etc. These Technologies stand to greatly democratize large scale networking in war and peacetime.

Id wait 2 weeks to buy hardware. A new release is coming and they are hinting at new hardware.
