From my understanding, this doesn't include payable taxes, so out of that 60% of the total value produced, another percent will be deducted to pay the other pedophiles in government.
So at the median tax rate of 30%, you're getting paid ~42% of the total value you produce.
I don't know about too many but companies do use immigrant labour to undercut unionized construction workers.
It means usually shittier pay and more (needlessly) dangerous work for the immigrants and layoffs and fewer opportunities for the local workers.
That's not to say the company, the bosses, taking away most of the profits and abusing the system or the people isn't the bigger problem.
100%! There does seem to be a shit-lib idea that allowing the mega rich to dictate our immigration policy, specifically in order to drive down wages, is a left wing position. It is not. Not even slightly.

Just because “union” doesn’t automatically mean dem or liberal. It’s entirely possible to be union and be totally conservative.
Combine people who bitch about dues, union politics and problems, along with right wing blue collar attitudes and constantly looking to game the system for better or worse and you probably get what they’re saying is “miserable”.
My job is pretty much white collar and unionized, but a huge chunk are right wing, essentially racist but indirectly so, and vote for the very people who are anti-union and very much for profiting at the expense of employees. They’re such myopic douches they bitch about work problems being caused by any other group attempting to unionize or slowdown during contract negotiations.
No one wants to work anymore. :(
