Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

There is no ethical chasing

under capitalism

[–] DerShendi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Ok after rereading my comment i need to elaborate a bit because it sounds psychotic - I dont have a real gender preference i just call myself an ethical chaser because I think its funnier saying it that way because it also includes trans people

[–] Duke_Nukem_1990@feddit.org 8 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

That's not what a chaser is. That is quite literally the opposite of a chaser.

[–] DerShendi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Might be but ive been told by trans people and saw post from other people calling anyone who likes trans people(no matter if they like cis people aswell) a chaser so i just started labeling myself as such

[–] Duke_Nukem_1990@feddit.org 11 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Ok, then lemme clear this up :3

A chaser is someone who wants to have sex with a trans person, because the person is trans, regardless of their character, etc. Most chasers are only interested in trans people that haven't had gender affirming surgery, so it's double icky.

Oh so they just want to microdose being gay as a fetish!!! Ok thanks for explaining it to me because I have shitters as friends and they turn everything into a meme.

It wouldn't be but to some cis straight people it counts as being gay(Im comming with the mentality of a third world country so i genuinely might be wrong its just how i heard people here talk about it . Im from Kosovo)

[–] DerShendi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

I know but what if - I dont give a fuck about gender??

[–] luciole@beehaw.org 5 points 2 hours ago

*hits you with pan*

[–] BloodMuffin@lemmy.ca 20 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

I totally get it. when I get horny, I forget I'm straight and look for a dude to bang

straight like spaghetti, until it gets hot and wet

[–] Soulg@ani.social 4 points 3 hours ago (3 children)

Seems kinda by definition not ace then?

[–] DerShendi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

True but i dont even know at this point. Ive lived thru my entire 29 years of having no romantic or sexual feelings towards any person or gender and then theres the last 2 months where ive just been horny on main every other week for no fuckass reason i dont know at this point.

[–] N0tTr0xy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 hour ago

You are horny but it’s not directed towards anybody specifically?

[–] JennyLaFae@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Injections every two weeks? Possibly hitting a sweet spot on your levels.

[–] DerShendi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Im not on hrt... Im not even trans, at best im agender but im still debating that :(

[–] JennyLaFae@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Same, but with the addition of "I have trans friends who are trying to forcefem me"

How sure are you? :3 /jk

[–] DerShendi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

They've been at it for the past 4 years so pretty sure. I said in an earlier post that i dont feel like any specific gender at all so theyve been thinking that i might be NB or agender but theyre still trying :3

[–] JennyLaFae@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

To be more clear the joke was insinuating "are you sure you're not on hrt" not "are you sure you're not trans"

[–] DerShendi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 hour ago

My bad gang im the big tism xD

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 hours ago

Not all ace people are sex repulsed.

[–] kayzeekayzee@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 hours ago

Describing sex acts and doing sex acts are two very different things. At least for me anyways.
