Fuck Sinclair

[–] notsure@fedia.io 42 points 4 days ago (1 children)

...Fuck Them because the only reason is it was unprofidtable...

[–] adespoton@lemmy.ca 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Well, maybe it’s time for the next step then.

Everyone write to the advertisers and say you’re boycotting until the local station either leaves Sinclair, or Sinclair fires their directors and replaces them with people who actually believe in a free media and investigative journalism.

It’s past time to make fascism unprofitable.

[–] notsure@fedia.io 1 points 2 days ago

...you mean show them who actually is the means of production?...

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 21 points 4 days ago

It didn't take long for them to wilt.

So much for their posturing.

[–] Gumbyyy@lemmy.world 15 points 4 days ago

Good to see they chickened out the second they started to see a hint of their ad money drying up

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

And I'm still going to continue to not watch the local Sinclair/Nextstar stations and boycott any local advertisers that are on the affiliates.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (2 children)

How do you find out who advertises with them without watching the station? (Not a rhetorical question, BTW; I want to know the same info for my market but at this point I don't even have a working OTA TV.)

There stuff out there on reddit too, if you feel like clicking

Also there's site that a guy frequenting 50501 made

If you have an affiliate, scan and plop stuff into it to help out. Stuffed a few in myself.

Not gonna go to Facebook or Reddit out of principle, but I appreciate that third link!

Oh yeah, that's right: I'd forgotten that my city doesn't have any Sinclair affiliates in it to begin with. I'm almost disappointed.

None of the surrounding cities that do have Sinclair stations have any advertiser info filled out, unfortunately, which bumps up the "almost" to "actually disappointed." I guess it's a brand-new site so it'll take time to get populated.

I'd search the internet. They would have to have a public list of that somewhere. Like on the FCC's website.

Doesn't surprise me. I made a note of all the local advertisers on my local Sinclair and Nexstar stations and emailed all of them letting them know I would be boycotting their businesses as long as they advertised on these stations, and I saw lots of other people saying they did the same. The local HVAC repair guy didn't sign up for this shit and doesn't want to lose business over Jimmy Fucking Kimmel, even if they probably love Trump too.

[–] TuffNutzes@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

So all of them, every Trump sycophant and fascist enabler tipped their hand.

Absolutely nothing was accomplished by them and they only held out long enough to show everyone exactly who they are.

Thanks. Now we know which large institutions, corporations and other lapdogs are the real fascists. And they got absolutely nothing but exposure for their troubles.

I wonder if any of them paid attention in history class and at some time in their life openly wondered themselves "If fascism ever came to America, which side would I choose?". Now we all know. And it's a stain you'll never wipe off.

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

The right choice they made.
