Swatting a streamer is completely illegal in the US and is often prosecuted as a felony.
Seems like if it was really often prosecuted as a felony, it would be less common.

"often" = weasel word.
I don't think it's uncommon for the source of the swatting to be foreign. I know that Indian scammers did it to people who fucked with them for a while.
