That's the comment that inspired this!! That and a passage in one of Cormac McCarthy's books where one of the villains says "If it bleeds, it can be butchered" while speaking about a young girl.
I think the villain said "She", which is far less dehumanising but of course makes the quote, referring to the girl being ready for sex as soon as her period starts, no less horrifying
This would imply they're surprised to see each other doing what they're doing, which they absolutely aren't

Still doesn't really work. He's sitting in passenger seat so they are facing the same way. She would drive past him, coming from behind so they wouldn't really see each other unless one of them looked back.

Don't overthink it, the usual format is they're crossing; each going opposite directions. Flipping the bottom panel just insinuates they're doing the same thing
