Isn't coffeezilla that YouTube journalist that exposes things?

[–] Electricblush@lemmy.world 30 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Yes. He ordered one, expecting to be scammed and to make a video about it.

Now he has made a video about the exposed data.

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Ah, yeah, that makes sense.

[–] spitfire@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago

Trump played the uno reversed card on him ;)

Yes he ordered a Trump phone in order to expose it.

[–] theherk@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Yes. Which is why he got involved in this. Hoping to get some information on the process then pull out before shipping. Then the next day they finally decided to ship, or something like that, so he got stuck.

[–] fizzle@quokk.au 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not trying to be an ass but the article explains how hes involved

[–] Syndication@lemmy.today 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I don't know why you're assuming I didn't read the article.. Or why people think I said that he's somehow in on it or something nefarious. I know he's exposing it, that's why I made the comment.

[–] fizzle@quokk.au 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I guess i made that assumption because the article answers your question.

[–] Syndication@lemmy.today 2 points 1 week ago

Ah man, I'm sorry about that. After getting some sleep, I realize that I should have just edited my comment to be clearer lol

[–] gedfromgont@piefed.ca 46 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Damn, thats the perfect list of people to screw over with even more elaborate scams.

[–] 5oap10116@lemmy.world 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Probably doesn't have to be all that elaborate

[–] ranzispa@mander.xyz 8 points 1 week ago

Lots of Nigerian princes transfering diamonds to the US soon

[–] pi3r8@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I don't think they will have to be all that elaborate to be honest.

[–] skisnow@lemmy.ca 45 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This is an extremely high quality list for spear-phishers, because it's all gullible morons with highly visible levers.

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Send your SSN asap or I will turn the frogs gay

[–] bhamlin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Bet. I've always wanted a gay frog.

[–] skisnow@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

Blit, nobody says "Bet" any more, get with it frizzo

I hope no one builds a bot to spams and superdox these maga supporting dickheads.

For all those Americans saying ‘what can we do?’ 🤷‍♂️ here’s a list of those who wish to persecute you.

[–] fonix232@fedia.io 11 points 1 week ago

Time to spin up dozens of shop fronts selling cheap made to order MAGA crap. Hell, have AI generate new merch that looks trumpish enough to sell...

step 2: no "???", just profit

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

On the one hand, they're obviously responsible for this shit

On the other hand, they're the mooks stupid enough to buy the Trump phone lol, a lot of evil people more responsible

[–] Cherry@piefed.social 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

They still need to learn consequence.

And we need to start being comfortable with naming and shaming again. These people are funding fascism both economically and ideologically.

[–] AbsolutelyNotAVelociraptor@piefed.social 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I agree. It's about time we stop the "they are just dumb" discourse. Being stupid doesn't exempt you from the consequences of your acts. They are dumb, but they are also evil. Even if they are just stupid, they voted for an asshole because he wanted to hurt other people. At some point, you stop being just stupid to be also evil.

[–] Cherry@piefed.social 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I agree. And the idea of dumb is condescending. Some might be, some can also be smart, or persistent. That is often overlooked, and thats a dangerous underestimation.

Secondly the idea that taking the high road is the right thing to do, we have being doing that a long time and it’s been taken advantage off. There’s a big scale between being ideologically pure or a pacifist, to what you can still achieve with the ‘threat’ of consequence. People need start calling it what it is, it’s a fight and being ethically right is not going to save you from a bully.

I could have said that they wouldn't know better in 2016 when he was a first timer and his discourse was not as unhinged as it is today. But now? Mate, you voted for him AGAIN after what he did, and you did it because of what he was promising. You'll have to excuse me if I don't take the high ground and just want you to suffer for what you brouoht to yourself (and to the rest of us).

High ground, my ass. These magats don't deserve that we just "move forward and forget". Because if we do, next in line will be trump 2, unhinged bogaloo. Except he will be younger.

Punishment might not be educative, but honestly, I'm well beyond willing to teach them. What they must understand is that fascism recieves violence as answer so it's not good to follow it.

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

In a way they’re the most responsible

[–] k0e3@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

They should be scammed into supporting democratic, social, and humane causes.

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 27 points 1 week ago

Who'd'a thought an obvious grift like that doesn't care about digital privacy/security.

Put it on the pile.

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 25 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not the main issue of course, but I found this fun:

Both YouTubers said the exposed database records indicated significantly lower customer interest than previously reported. According to Coffeezilla, internal order identifiers suggested roughly 30,000 total orders associated with around 10,000 unique customers, far below earlier public estimates claiming nearly 600,000 reservations.

So this grift will only net them ~$3M, not sixty. My heart weeps for them.

[–] fucktrump@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

That is excellent, but add in the tax write off for “R&D” or whatever creative accounting they’ll do and that will balloon. I would guess we see a 1 billion loss since the IRS can’t audit him

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmings.world 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Of course. These people are GOLDEN members of the "More Money Than Brains Club." They have shown that they will commit serious money to anything associated with Trump, even after knowing everything about him.

They are the dumbest of the dumb, and are willing to part with big money to prove it. That's a valuable mailing list.

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 2 points 1 week ago

Also they stay Golden members because it's too hard to tell the difference between Silver members and Platinum members...

Trump Mobile, the wireless carrier and smartphone brand tied to US President Donald Trump, is reportedly exposing sensitive customer information through an easily exploitable flaw on its website.

That is according to claims made by YouTubers Coffeezilla and penguinz0, both of whom said they were affected after ordering the company’s delayed T1 smartphone.

In separate videos, the creators said a researcher contacted them after discovering that Trump Mobile customer records could be accessed online, exposing personal data, including:

Full names Mailing addresses Email addresses Order details

Love this for them.

I believe the expression is:

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

Even before it got off the ground there was a data breach. That trump. Failing upward constantly only means that the eventual fall will hit much harder.
