Spoiler: it can be found in Africa and the USA, it's just that nobody has been making it in those places in decades because it was cheaper in China.

The lesson here is: don't buy cheap Chinese products.

Cheaper and likely that the toxicity of the refining process is something more readily accepted by China than most other developed countries
