Mmm yes, it technically has the requiremebt for a meme, but isn't there more to a meme than a jpeg and a text ? Like the representation of situations, or things, by the reuse of cultural reference or relatable situation ? Idk, this is is what i think is a meme, here i see a flag with a statement.
I see memes as a way to convey a message, you could maybe have a meme like : *picture of something bad * and a caption saying : "this is ukraine" that convey the statement "ukraine bad"
Note that what i am criticizing here is not the statement, only that the way it conveyed doesn't really fit a meme community imo
Its like blaming the victim for dressing provocatively.
Liberals have to reduce everything down to a clean black and white metaphor because actually reckoning with the plain, bare reality of what they support would lay bare the monstrousness of their utterly incurious, self-serving imperial ideology. Much easier to exist in the cloud lands of equivalence and metaphor, where nazi-occupied Ukraine becomes an assaulted woman and support for Palestinian genocide becomes a trolley problem.
Lovely. Now what about the facts?
The facts:
Russia started the war.
Wrong and also that's your response to supporting nazis? "But the other guy started it"? Okay, you still support nazis. That makes you a nazi.
Eight years of Ukro shelling and fourteen thousand dead civillians "started it", my guy.
The US overthrew the Ukrainian government and installed a puppet regime specifically to threaten Russia
