The 79-year-old US President made the unusual admission during an appearance on Fox and Friends, just a day after hosting European leaders, including Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskyy, at the White House. Linking his legacy to global diplomacy, Trump remarked that if he succeeds in brokering peace between Ukraine and Russia, it might help secure him a place in the afterlife.

We require the headline match the article, looks like they might have changed it up on you.

Current headline reads:

"Pictures of Trump's Swollen Ankles and Hands Boost Health Rumours After He Admits He's 'Not Doing Well'"

Please make it match up or we'll have to remove it.

[–] spaghettiwestern@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

They've changed it. Will do the same.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago
[–] MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Is there a time limit if they change the headline after it's posted? It's also not uncommon to have an A and B headline that different people see, when they're both correct.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago

It varies, if a headline is obviously manipulated by the user, I remove it with the note and when they fix it, I'll restore it.

In cases like this where the mismatch is substantially the same, I'll post up the warning and give them 8 hours or so to fix it, then remove it.

I figure people have to, you know, work and sleep and stuff.

OTOH, after a few hours, if they're making other posts and comments, it's clear they aren't reaponding to the warning and I'll remove it.

May he stand bared before the gods, with nothing but his soul and his actions to bear testament to his worth.

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip 1 points 18 minutes ago

May he rot in hell, flayed and fearful.

[–] PacketPilot@lemmy.world 2 points 43 minutes ago* (last edited 42 minutes ago)

The MOST swollen hands and ankles. Many people are saying they have never seen such TREMENDOUSLY swollen hands and ankles before!! Believe me.

[–] KingOfSleep@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Don't forget to buy your champagne in advance. The stores will be out on the day.

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 45 minutes ago

And fireworks

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 16 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Hurry up and die, you piece of shit. May your suffering be proportional to that which you've caused.

[–] Drewmeister@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

He's the type of person to make me wish for the existence of hell

[–] Jolly_Platypus@lemmy.world 9 points 2 hours ago

Rest in piss, traitor.

[–] peaceful_world_view@lemmy.world 4 points 2 hours ago

I will revel in his decline until he is rotting in the dirt.

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 11 points 3 hours ago

I wish I believed in heaven and hell so I could be certain this fucker is going to get raped by a thousand Hitlers and Stalins every night for eternity.

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 28 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Oh if only there was cosmic justice waiting for people like him. Unfortunately he gets to live the life he wants and never has to answer for anything. Double unfortunately he's little more than a cancer cell of a much larger disease that won't die with him.

[–] ProIsh@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago

Damn well put. No notes

[–] you_are_dust@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I guess he's partially correct in that if we are to believe in a heaven, you don't get there by raping women and fucking little girls. It raises the question of whether you can be lifelong rapist and pedophile and then do a good deed to erase the bad. As if it's based on some kind of morality point system.

[–] MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 hours ago

In Christian theology, it's mostly explicitly not based on works but solely on baptism and 100% forgiveness of sin. Depending on how you interpret the theology repentance can be required though, not just asking for forgiveness.

[–] Veedem@lemmy.world 98 points 7 hours ago (4 children)

The headline is entirely inaccurate.

From the article:

Donald Trump has sparked fresh health concerns after confessing he is 'not doing well' when it comes to his chances of getting into heaven.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 8 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

In a way it's more interesting that Trump has some awareness that he's not a good guy.

[–] BetaBlake@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

He still thinks of himself as the hero in his own story for sure, but he does know he is a motherfucker.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 32 minutes ago

I think he thinks himself Solomon or even Byron, rather than a pedophilic Crassus

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 9 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

People are so desperate to hear that either Trump or Putin is about to die, these stories have been popping up every few months for a decade or more.

[–] MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 hours ago

At this point, they have like a 5-7% chance of dying every year based on actuary tables. So dying at any point at that age isn't remarkable or unlikely. But there's like a 0-8 year range where it's likely to occur based on that.

[–] IHeartBadCode@fedia.io 18 points 7 hours ago

Satan: Holy shit, we're going to need to make some renovations to match this guy's punishment. Tell the daemons in Cocytus we need something between Antenora and Ptolomaea.

This calls for celebration 🍾

[–] BedSharkPal@lemmy.ca 35 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I'd rather him experience some level of fucking consequences for once in his life. But for the sake of humanity I will also accept his health failing.

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 7 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Death, after all, claims everyone,
You find it everywhere.
It catches up with even those
Who wear their noses in the air.

The whole, wide world is ruled
With a certain justice, so
That helps perhaps to sweeten
The poor man's pain and woe.

[–] MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Graveyard is filled with important men.

Who could not be spared, but were in the end.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

South Park already showed us Trump and Satan's relationship.

[–] MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 hours ago

South Park Trump was kinder and more loving with hot gay sex than the real trump ever was. The boredom and stupidity of real life is too much to artificially recreate.

He’s looks especially awful these last few weeks.

As for a place in the afterlife, you don’t get to sell your soul then try to get into heaven.

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

you don’t get to sell your soul then try to get into heaven.

That's pretty much exclusively what American Christianity is today.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 29 minutes ago

Yeah and if I was a Christian I'd be calling most American Christians antichristians.

cmon.. just a little more im almost there.

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 3 points 5 hours ago

They've got to be worried about him waking up in the morning if they're admitting to this.

[–] Hayduke@lemmy.world 6 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

Article is shit. Doesn’t include the quote or context. At least I didn’t see it in the reader version that loaded for me. That said, hearing his quote in full context, I interpreted that as he doesn’t feel he is doing well in terms of honorable/benevolent deeds or accomplishments. I may be wrong, I guess you could hear it either way, but that’s the impression I got.

The clock is ticking on him, but we will be the last to know what time it is. (Or something like that. Sounded poetic in my head)

tl;dnr I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I don’t think he is saying that he is dying soon.

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 4 hours ago

I mostly agree, I think.

I think the quote is taken out of context.

However, it's unusual for someone like Trump to mention the afterlife - although we shouldn't read too much into that.

Having said that, the guy is ~80.

Aren't many overweight 85 year olds around.

It would be interesting to see some stats on life expectancy for someone his age and weight.

I wouldn't be suprised if it's something like 20% chance of dying in the next 12 months, then if he's still alive in 1 year a 30% chance of dying in the following 12 months, then 40% and so on. The chances of him making 90 are infinitessimal.

So yeah, any commentary is conjecture, but it's not just noise.

[–] Linktank@lemmy.today 10 points 7 hours ago

Die in pain you sack of inadequacy.

[–] Bonus@lemmy.world 9 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (1 children)

Foo, you killed a million+ people. You're getting a ride on the hell express.

[–] spaghettiwestern@sh.itjust.works 12 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago) (2 children)

An estimated 1.5 million people in fact. He killed the equivalent of every man, woman, and child of both Washington DC and Boston. Astounding that the MSM has completely ignored the ocean of blood on his hands.
