So much for "elbows up". I guess it's just "down on your knees".

Canadians love giving Carney free passes.

I did. I voted for him.

No need to interrupt your enemy while they make mistakes. Just let the US continue to make fools of itself while the government and populace divests further.

Exactly. Hoekstra's noise is meaningless.

He's just trying to push people's buttons and provoke an overreaction.

Nod and smile, then carry on with your day is the way to deal with people like him.

He could also be playing the odds in waiting for rump to kick the bucket.

I wish people would stop assuming Trump is going to die soon. This mess is going to go on and on and on for probably decades

It’s inevitable. I know things will not change that much but it will slow things down for a bit and aside from the politics I can celebrate just cause he is not a nice human.

Why are you assuming that the MAGA people will listen to someone else? They haven't listened to anyone else in 15 years.

Is this a case of better the enemy we know than the enemy we do not? I think Canadian officials know how to handle Hoekstra. He used to be the ambassador to The Netherlands and did the same type of talk back in that job too. I am sure the Canadian officials have talked to the Dutch too.

what you expect from a banker, who had the same interests as billionaires.

They should give him the french aristocracy treatment.

As Will Rogers put it, diplomacy is saying “nice doggy” until you can find a rock

Fuck that guy, not sure why we still allow him here

[–] patatas@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

Of course we won't. Hoekstra, like Trump, is useful for getting people to keep rallying behind the PM - who is selling us out to the US while telling us he's doing the opposite.

I wonder if he fears for his life amid all the pro USA talk he's been doing. It really doesn't seem worth the destruction of the Liberal Party.
