Why not just drive from parking to the stadium? No need to build an expensive subway, just a small 8 lane road from the parking to the stadium will be enough.

70mph limit

[–] LoafedBurrito@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

What a gigantic waste of space. Never knew how large this stadium is.

[–] MadBigote@lemmy.world 1 points 15 minutes ago

Why dod they not build a 3-4 story parking garage around the stadium? The area of the parking loy ia greater than the stadium itself.

Even if you were a local you probably wouldn’t appreciate it unless you saw it like this. How much housing/flats could have been created rather than spending at most a few nights a week as a car park?

What in the concrete hellscape is this?

[–] LORDSMEGMA@sh.itjust.works 46 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

Even better, its on top of a hill with only a couple roads access. Needless to say, traffic is a fucking nightmare. Put a subway in from literally anywhere else to the stadium would be a better option.

LA is thinking of doing a gondola

[–] upbeatdingo@piefed.world 28 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

Also, it comes with the story of Chavez Ravine which was forcefully evicted to make way for the stadium.

LA and bulldozing neighborhoods is sadly a tale as old as time

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 17 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Now, let me guess what kind of people lived there...

What a complete and utter surprise.

[–] Brkdncr@lemmy.world 28 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Getting to/from dodger stadium is awful. There’s only 1 small motel nearby. It’s an uphill walk. The traffic is a mess. There’s no near train stop.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 23 points 4 hours ago

What this place needs is obviously more car lanes.

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 15 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Uhhhh, why haven’t they done underground parking?

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 10 points 4 hours ago

That might make line go up more slowly.

[–] snoons@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 hours ago

What a shithole...

[–] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

They gave up on the gondola?

[–] errer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

I think the Gondola is still on the table. Honestly it’s a great idea, Union station is very close as the crow flies, just walking from it right now is a nightmare because of the freeway in the way.

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 1 points 28 minutes ago

An extention of some light or heavy rail line would be good

[–] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 1 points 56 minutes ago (1 children)

Eh, I agree with nandert that an underground light metro would be more useful, in part because you can use it to extend transit north of Dodgers Stadium to create a better used system overall.

[–] errer@lemmy.world 2 points 44 minutes ago

That may be, I’m just unsure on the cost differential. Feels like an underground line would be more expensive, but IDK.
