Community rules (click to expand)

1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack users for any reason. This includes using blanket terms, like "every user of thing".
  • Don't get baited into back-and-forth insults. We are not animals.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn, no politics, no trolling or ragebaiting.
  • Don't come looking for advice, this is not the right community.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, <loves/tolerates/hates> systemd, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.
  • 5. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ Language/язык/Sprache
  • This is primarily an English-speaking community. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
  • Comments written in other languages are allowed.
  • The substance of a post should be comprehensible for people who only speak English.
  • Titles and post bodies written in other languages will be allowed, but only as long as the above rule is observed.
  • 6. (NEW!) Regarding public figuresWe all have our opinions, and certain public figures can be divisive. Keep in mind that this is a community for memes and light-hearted fun, not for airing grievances or leveling accusations.
  • Keep discussions polite and free of disparagement.
  • We are never in possession of all of the facts. Defamatory comments will not be tolerated.
  • Discussions that get too heated will be locked and offending comments removed.

Please report posts and comments that break these rules!

Important: never execute code or follow advice that you don't understand or can't verify, especially here. The word of the day is credibility. This is a meme community -- even the most helpful comments might just be shitposts that can damage your system. Be aware, be smart, don't remove France.

Nobody who finds 6 7 funny is going to be using anything other than a tablet that runs YouTube

    [–] Rinn@awful.systems 36 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Nah, humans are great at pattern-matching, even just being aware that some find 67 funny is enough for you to start spotting it. I started finding some amusement in it just due to exposure from younger coworkers.

Yeah, it's still a trash tier thing but it's at least slightly amusing

    [–] Caducous@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

    Six sevuuuun

    [–] RVGamer06@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 week ago

    There is no winning D:

    [–] 1984@lemmy.today 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I wanted to run kernel 6.6.6 but they didn't make that version. I think they switched to 6.7 before it happened.

    [–] nekusoul@lemmy.nekusoul.de 13 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Your distro most likely just skipped that version. I distinctly remember getting excited about installing that specific version (on Arch). That said, I think that version was very shortlived due to a printer-bug or something like that.

    [–] 1984@lemmy.today 4 points 1 week ago

I was on arch but yeah, may have missed it because it was so short lived.

    666 would have been great.

    [–] imjustjealous@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Damn I sang the whole thing!

    [–] placebo@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I understand the meaning of 666, but what's wrong with 67?

    [–] groet@feddit.org 19 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Its the funny number of gen alpha. Like 42 for millenials. But there is no meaning behind it. Its just six seven. That's it.

    [–] Simon_Shitewood@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 days ago

It looks like funny number, but it's actually The Game. Funny numbers reference something, The Games are self referential.

    [–] fenrasulfr@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Wait since when was 42 a meme for millenials? I must have missed a lot of internet culture.

    [–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 22 points 1 week ago (7 children)

That's from hitchhiker's guide, probably more a gen X thing.

    Millennials had 420.

    [–] Bluewing@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

420 goes farther back than millennials. It was just more counter/sub culture and those who knew, knew. It just became common lexicon with the millennials.

Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. Movie or TV series. 42 is the answer to "the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything"

    [–] fenrasulfr@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Thank you for the info. I have never watched Hitchhikers guide so that would be why I do not have a reference for it.
