"Seeking a construction foreman to join our hammer powered construction crew."

"Seeking a surgeon or join our scalpal powered surgical team."

"Seeking CPA to join our Excel powered accounting firm."

This is how these kind of job postings look to actual candidates.

This sort of requirement comes up in civil engineering all the time.

Your job may include running finite element models (FEM) and the office uses STAAD. When getting new candidates, the preference will be like this: those who have used STAAD, those who have used several other FEM programs, those who have used one FEM program, and those who don't. Usually, it gets presented as requiring FEM experience with a preference to STAAD.

There may even be cases where a program may be different enough that the requirement is knowledge in that program. For instance, Bentley's Open Roads is considered to be very different from AutoDesk Civil 3D to the point where Civil 3D experience only gets considered if there is no better applicant even though the two software packages do mostly the same thing.

I think the use of '-powered' in a job description is a clear indication that you are applying for a bullshit job.

Since dogs age about 7x faster, time for Air Bud: Hacker Pupz

Ain't no rule says dogs can't hack Gibsons.

Eh... What... Claude didn't exist 10 years ago. This is one of the reasons managers hate HR, they don't beep so can't hire the talents they need.

B Yeah there was a guy who made a type of code, sold it, and then couldn’t get a job working on his own code because everyone did this wanting 5+ years on something released a month prior.

It’s so they can have job listings out and be able to claim the jobs exist for clout while ensuring no one will take/get the position.

They do it with all kinds of things, and then either say you don’t have the experience or if you play their game and say you have the experience they call you overqualified.

TL;DR Report and pass

Guess they should have asked claude to help write their hiring terms.

I'm going to guess this position is for a person already in the company but they are required to post a listing for it due to corporatism bullshit

My guess is VP McJorgen told HR he needs another senior dev with Claude code experience. HR specialist McSmitty pulls up the job description for senior dev, sees 10+ yr experience and makes the job listing, completely unaware of the age of the technology.

Or HR just doesn't know what they're talking about.

[–] TheLowestStone@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

You can always assume that HR has no idea what they are talking about.
