Community Rules

You must post before you leave

Be nice. Assume others have good intent (within reason).

Block or ignore posts, comments, and users that irritate you in some way rather than engaging. Report if they are actually breaking community rules.

Use content warnings and/or mark as NSFW when appropriate. Most posts with content warnings likely need to be marked NSFW.

Most 196 posts are memes, shitposts, cute images, or even just recent things that happened, etc. There is no real theme, but try to avoid posts that are very inflammatory, offensive, very low quality, or very "off topic".

Bigotry is not allowed, this includes (but is not limited to): Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, Abelism, Classism, or discrimination based on things like Ethnicity, Nationality, Language, or Religion.

Avoid shilling for corporations, posting advertisements, or promoting exploitation of workers.

Proselytization, support, or defense of authoritarianism is not welcome. This includes but is not limited to: imperialism, nationalism, genocide denial, ethnic or racial supremacy, fascism, Nazism, Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, etc.

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

I kinda like it. The unacceptable part is how it's a regular showerhead and not a ceiling rain head

[–] errer@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Rain head won’t flush my asshole properly

[–] isVeryLoud@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago
[–] Banana@sh.itjust.works 15 points 3 days ago

Every rain shower I've seen also had a hand-held shower head you could turn on optionally

[–] Honytawk@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Increase its pressure then

[–] antonim@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago (2 children)

The direction is the trickier part of the problem. Bending over seems to be the only way to get the water directly hit the asshole, although then the asshole water would wash over the rest of your body as well

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 2 days ago

caked up holy shit

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Plot twist: did you think that was a drain?

[–] antonim@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

Ohh, I like that idea!

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 11 points 3 days ago

Yep. I'd probably sit down in there and stay under the water for ages

gonna be when i'm done

[–] raid_dad@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

That’s actually a Metroid Prime elevator.

[–] cybervseas@lemmy.world 31 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Looks like a 60s sci-fi teleportation chamber

[–] SEND_BUTTPLUG_PICS@lemmy.zip 11 points 3 days ago

I'm getting Portal test chamber exit vibes.

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

It's the suicide machine from A Taste of Armageddon.

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 27 points 3 days ago

All those windows, that's not a bathroom, it's a bath showroom

[–] Zizzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 24 points 3 days ago (1 children)

If youre going to have a shower like this, surely just all glass would be better

[–] tomenzgg@midwest.social 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

And miss out on it feeling like a contamination chamber?

[–] AlteredEgo@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I really hope you mean a decontamination chamber.

[–] tomenzgg@midwest.social 2 points 2 days ago

Hey; I don't judge your hygiene practices.

(yes; yes, I did. Funnily enough, I checked it, like, three times to make sure I'd spelled "contamination" correctly)

[–] Xoriff@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Anybody else see Toad with his mouth hanging open in a horrified scream?

[–] Xoriff@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago

Maybe I've just had a long day

[–] FireRetardant@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago (2 children)

The real sin here is that looks like carpet behind it in that semicircle area. Tbh I think this could have been cooler if the shower was somehow built into that semi circle, privacy doesn't seem to be a major concern anyway.

[–] 23lonestar@thelemmy.club 6 points 3 days ago

Yeah that carpet is bothering me!

[–] adarza@piefed.ca 2 points 3 days ago

but then where would you put the throne?

[–] infinitesunrise@slrpnk.net 13 points 3 days ago

Panoptishower

[–] birdwing@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

This whole room screams "fire whoever let this monstrosity be built"

Multiple windows that aren't even connected? No way for privacy?

Carpeted bathroom?

Shower in middle of room?

Bad bad bad

[–] decolo@piefed.social 4 points 3 days ago

This is just standard McMansion. At this point it's a stylistic choice.

[–] biggerbogboy@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 days ago

Looks like a Danube class runabout transporter from Star Trek DS9

[–] TheLeadenSea@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'd love to use that and let people watch me shower :3

I really expected an OF promoting account behind this comment. I’m surprised, but not in a negative way

[–] LemmyPlaceDN@europe.pub 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Can anyone please explain to me why so many posters insert the word "rule" into the title? I've seen that a hundred times and everytime I wonder what the point is. I guess it's some kind of inside joke.

[–] birdwing@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

its the ✨ rule ✨ of this bylemmy

originally 196 had a single rule, that you must post before you went on with your business

and that 'rule' turned into a tradition for the 196-type communities

[–] LemmyPlaceDN@europe.pub 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

An unwritten rule apparently. Thanks for the explanation.

[–] AlteredEgo@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago

Unwritten rule:

Seems to me in the center. It just has a wash basin that takes up a portion.
