I went from Windows to Mint and have been using that for almost a year now. Havenβt run into any issues that would make me want to switch: it does what I want it to now.

MODERATORS
I tend to use macOS on the desktop (I know, booo) so Iβve landed on Alpine Linux for just about everything else.
I love that you can be on the bleeding edge but also not have tons of baggage everywhere. The downside is of course a lot of times I find myself doing things from scratch.
I started with Mint. My next and last stop was Alpine. I started trying to host my own website on a Raspberry Pi and ended up switching my laptop over to Alpine so that I could consistently learn on one operating system
I also found a side hobby in making POSIX portable scripts which goes nicely with self-hosting. It's great having a lean and customized desktop just for myself even if it took a long time to learn how to make it all work

red hat, slackware, debian, ubuntu, arch, manjaro, nix, cachyos
In 3 years:
Mint > OpenSUSE Tumbleweed > Fedora
Very happy with Fedora right now. If I ever had to switch again, maybe CachyOS. But not worth wiping and reconfiguring everything just for that. If RedHat pulls a Canonical though, definitely.
And tomorrow will be the seventy-thirth distro.
Ubuntu til KDE 5, then Kubuntu since
Arch Linux on laptop (needed some bleeding edge stuff), Fedora Linux on pc, looking forward for GNOME OS stable
I just started :P I have two low end laptops so busy fiddling about with AntiX and Q4OS

I am trying to set up like 50 Surface Pro 5s to give away so I wanted something that felt as close to Windows/Mac as possible while still allowing me to enable all the Surface Pro features.
Settled on ZorinOS as of now. (Actually, I did some experiments and even got the CAC reader working and CAC login working on it in the event that they want to use them in a student environment.)

Used Manjaro for a while, gave EndeavourOS a try and have been happy there for a few years now. Before that it was Ubuntu, Mint and Debian. Also had OpenBSD on my servers for many years.
After all the distribution hopping stuff. I settled with Debian Sid. Feels like home

TL;DR: LMDE. It works for me.
I've not hopped much, and from at least one viewpoint I've not hopped at all.
If you want to count distros I've used, some even at home, however briefly, then I tried Red Hat and SUSE (actually bought a copy!) way back in the '90s, Ubuntu, CentOS and... you know I don't actually know what a few of the GUI-less ones were, at work from the '90s onwards.
I even tried PC-BSD for a very brief moment before conflicts with an unusual hardware setup sent me scurrying back to Windows.
But since I quit Microsoft Windows for good at home, I've been nothing but Mint. I switched to LMDE after using the original for a while, but I can see arguments each way for whether that's a hop or not.
Frankly, it will take something drastic to make me want to hop to something else.
Sls-> redhat -> debian (potato) around year 2000 ish. Been running debian since.
Have you moved the same install around and upgraded along the way? If not, how often do you decide to reinstall fresh?
I used to go fresh every 12 months or so on Windows. Only recently started to use Linux as a desktop so wondering what others do.

I keep coming back to Fedora and Fedora-derivatives. Loving Nobara, personally.
The more that "just works" out of the box, the happier I am.
Customizations are gonna be the same no matter what.
Kde is kde. Sway is sway. Ketchup/Catsup.
So far my personal favourite is manjaro. I always liked Arch based distros and Manjaro has done a great job at pre configuring everything. Manjaro also came with zsh as the default shell and I really liked that.
Distro hopping sounds like too much work. I went from mint and was happy on that for years, then I went to Debian and I'm happy here. I'm curious about Fedora but not curious enough to be bothered with a new install.
I'll live vicariously through others
