That's absolutely true...

[–] ignominous_wombat@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 day ago

I mean... you could just ignore it.

[–] BoosBeau@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

I mean, are they wrong?

[–] MasterNerd@lemmy.zip 43 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I mean, being a language gatekeeper is kinda stupid. Language and grammer is a living and constantly changing thing. Being mad that people are using a sentence style you don't like in everyday conversion is pretty silly and entitled imo

I post a meme with a big silly ape in a meme community and you make a massive assumption about me being mad or trying to gatekeep language and grammar. The absurdity of the meme is the point. It doesn't require deep analysis.

Seen here is a textbook example of Schrodinger's douchebag

Seen here is a textbook example of "joyless twat"

Pretty harsh self-own, but you do you

[–] ordnance_qf_17_pounder@reddthat.com 1 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Looks like the meme has struck a nerve.

[–] JustDorky@lemmy.world -3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

You sound like a lot of fun at parties

[–] MasterNerd@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah people hate how I don't try to police their speech patterns

[–] RaphaelSchmitz@feddit.org 0 points 1 day ago

It would be so ironic if they actually meant it, without sarcasm.

Because yeah, one thing making you NOT fun at parties is, for sure, policing people's speech

I mean, it’s kind of obligatory that I tell you what I mean.

[–] BucketBong@p.hobo.social 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I mean, what else are we supposed to do?

[–] brokenwing@discuss.tchncs.de 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I mean the freedom of speech allows that.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

I mean... you're still not immune from OP not wishing you a good morning even if you're free to say what you mean.

Just sayin'

(People who end their comments with "just sayin'" are even worse)

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago

I'll try to cut back

I mean, it's evening there, so it's okay

[–] marcie@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 day ago

damn we apes are into some freaky shit

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 days ago

Let us not forget “Ehhhh…”

[–] orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

This phrase always comes from someone that is about to tell you something they know and thought was obvious to everyone else. It’s like the pinnacle of smug.

[–] AyuTsukasa@lemmy.zip 13 points 2 days ago

Well fuck me I guess. I basically use it as an "um" replacement sometimes.

I mean, that's exactly what the meme is about.
