I never really thought that hard on the lyrics decades back, but after the remake got so popular it creeped me the fuck out and I had to verify that those really had always been the lyrics and the words hadn't been subtly changed to reflect everything of today.
I've decided that Paul Simon must have invented a time machine, but when he went to check how awesome the future would be he looked around and ended up infected with clinical depression instead.
"Ceci n'est pas une pipe" turns out predicted the rise of AI image generation. Except I suppose that's "Ceci n'est pas de l'art."
Or it could have been a take on brainrot. As a lot of brainrot revolves around taking something already existing and taking it to absurdity.

While this might be a typo, it could also refer to Apple's idea, which is referenced earlier in the sentence.
