[–] Bruncvik@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

My headphones beep 10 minutes before they die. Which is especially frustrating when they do that a few minutes into a 2-hour run.

One warning is great. The repeated warnings are not. Just let me enjoy the time I have left.

[–] Unbecredible@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago

Like being diagnosed with a terminal illness and every day your doctor calls to remind you.

But 3.5mm jacks are sooooooooo awful.

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The phones are sooooooooooooo thick and unwieldy because of that hole!!!!

[–] MrScottyTay@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

The ipod touch, nano and shuffle were super thin even with a 3.5mm jack

Thick American Accent: "Power on” "Connected" "Pairing"

Thick Japanese accent: "Low Battery, Please Recharge Headset."

the tts in my car's bluetooth puck consistently mispronounces "bluetooth" as "blew-a-tooth". truly a mark of high quality.

Mine's a British woman. And the volume of that voice always seems to be much louder than whatever I was listening to, so it gives me a slight fright every time.

[–] Ihmes@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

There is absolute peak YT with two voice actresses who have both done BT headphones (and other stuff) for various companies. https://youtu.be/V3BUlzk6qNU

I have a nice shower speaker that, when low on power, begins beeping every 5 seconds, with at least three times the volume of the music

I get it, just give me 2 goddamn minutes to finish showering and then I'll charge you!

[–] Zacryon@feddit.org 15 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I do not understand why we are not allowed to just disable this feature.

[–] thebestaquaman@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

You can! Just go to the "place you buy earbuds" settings page and select "wired earbuds". After I did that, the annoying warnings went away, and my earbuds gained infinite battery life!

[–] MyVeryRealName@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Do you want to constantly check your settings page for the battery percentage?

[–] Zacryon@feddit.org 1 points 16 hours ago

I would prefer that, yes. Also I would do that occasionally and not constantly.

Furthermore, if they suddenly go silent, then I know what's up and that it's my fault for not charging before. But that is fine, because I am quite good at keeping the tech charged and ready that I use daily. I would prefer it much more for them to suddenly shut down than to annoy me for 3 hours that battery has reached less than 30%. Really infuriating especially with audiobooks.

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

I want them to just turn off when the battery is gone.

If they want to make a single low volume alert at some low level telling me how much battery remains, that's an extra. Anything else is hostile bullshit.

[–] thebestaquaman@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You will pry these wired earbuds out of my cold dead ears!

[–] MyVeryRealName@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Well, you don't need to worry about battery warnings then!

[–] luthis@lemmy.nz 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No I'd just charge it after heavy usage.

[–] MyVeryRealName@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Then you won't receive the warning

[–] WagnasT@piefed.world 17 points 2 days ago

I paid for the whole battery let me use the whole battery, I don't need it to tell me battery low every 2 minutes for half an hour.

[–] EonNShadow@pawb.social 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

My Bluetooth earbud ~~did a low battery sound~~ died as I was typing this comment

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

[–] yopyop@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 days ago

You mean "BATTERY LOW !!!! "

I can't even use Bluetooth earphones at this point because of this.
They just make me anxious, I am constantly expecting to be startled by random loud voice at any point.

It needs to yell it at a startling volume compared to what you were listening at.

[–] DigDoug@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

"Battery low"

You've still got 50% battery remaining, you lying piece of shit.

[–] luthis@lemmy.nz 6 points 2 days ago

It's more like 'BETWEEN 6 AND 12 HOURS PLAYTIME REMAINING.'

I don't know why companies that should know better don't just stick with simple beeps. Sennheiser, you fucking idiots.

[–] wuffah@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

15 minutes of silence…

POWER OFF

[–] popekingjoe@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

If you don't need to filter out lots of noise, you can alternate to use one buds at the time for long study/work session. So the other one can keep charging in the case. Otherwise, a female audio jack/usbc adapter with some good old cable headphones.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 1 points 1 day ago

I love my hearing protection headset. It warns you when there's about 1h of battery left, then at 30m, then 10m.

That's it.
