Fuck AI

"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

Bro was already on an Internet connected device and was too lazy to just switch to Google. This is advanced stupidity.

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 2 points 30 minutes ago

Dude likely gets paid 6 figures, and is this stupid.

[–] bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 15 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

We haven't used google here for over 5 years friend. Please change to ddg, ecosia, kagi, or searxng. Your life will improve.

[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Already been on DDG for a hot minute, but using "Google" as a generic term for search cheapens their brand name.

[–] bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I gotcha. I just prefer to say search or looked up myself.

[–] Funkt4st1c@lemmy.world 6 points 2 hours ago

Google erasure is the way to go. I somwtimes jokingly say i "binged it"

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 5 points 2 hours ago

Can't decide who is dumber, the AI or people trusting the AI

[–] eleijeep@piefed.social 61 points 7 hours ago (3 children)

Why is this a photo of a phone showing the post instead of just a screenshot of the post?

[–] reseller_pledge609@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

Looks like the photo was taken using a translation app, maybe?

[–] eleijeep@piefed.social 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

A translation app that renders the scratch on the screen over the top of its translated text?

Veerery advanced AI !

[–] OfCourseNot@fedia.io 46 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

They asked Claude and that's how they told them to do it...

Now seriously, some apps don't let you make screenshots.

[–] Dnb@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 hours ago

Good job buddy!

[–] katze@lemmy.4d2.org -4 points 5 hours ago

You can take screenshots on every app if you root your phone.

[–] zip@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Likely because the application will detect that a screenshot was taken and will then notify the guy who posted it that someone screenshot their post (and who did it.)

[–] eleijeep@piefed.social 6 points 6 hours ago

Good job they didn't include any identifying features in the photo like their phone model, screen protector, case and right-hand, then!

Absolute idiot.

Edit: "During a session" – man, fuck off.

Is this today's parlance for a good old jerk off? I can't catch up with the youth

[–] nightwatch_admin@lemmy.world 19 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

No, it’s probably just boring chatter - these people are slowly disconnecting from normal (or even problematic) human interaction, growing into a sort of symbiotic relationship with the machine.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 8 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Symbiotic means mutually beneficial. Half or more of the time it's not benefitting the human and machines cannot benefit from any experience.

[–] _g_be@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

They love to syphon up all the data for 'training' so it could be argued that it's mutually beneficial... but it's comparable to that zombie virus/fungus that infects and takes over the caterpillar

[–] DonGirses@lemmy.world 21 points 7 hours ago

what a fucking tool

[–] Azrael@feddit.org 7 points 5 hours ago (3 children)

No idea what the movie is... but doesn't that poster say December 6th 2026? That's the Release day, no?

[–] KingPorkChop@lemmy.ca 1 points 58 minutes ago

I don't trust people who can't take a non-mirrored picture on their front camera.

[–] havid_dume@lemmy.ml 15 points 5 hours ago

The poster is backwards and the date is in MM/DD order. The release date was June 12.

[–] destructdisc@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago

Correct. Claude hallucinated that there would be a showing of the movie at 7.20pm on the night this image was taken.

[–] Crescent@fedinsfw.app 5 points 6 hours ago (4 children)

Can you even use AI for anything fairly recent? It's been a while but asking for anything that is supposed to happen on the same day seems useless.

[–] four@lemmy.zip 15 points 5 hours ago

AIs can query the web and parse the results, so it is possible for Claude to understand the question, search the web for movie schedule of a cinema, parse the website and give an accurate answer. It's also very possible for it to do it incorrectly or just pretend that it did that and give you a random time instead so that you are happy.

I can't imagine trusting an AI with something like this, where it's so easy to just check it yourself

[–] Railcar8095@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

I recently saw some fireworks on the beach and asked if there was something just to see what happened. It found the event in the internet and told as a possibly.

[–] Khanzarate@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

Nah they can get context and summarize web pages as they presently are. Not all do, and I'm not up to date on what ones do, but the expectation was Claude would find their schedule on their website online, would summarize it, and use that summary to answer the question and any followup ones that would've occurred.

[–] nightwatch_admin@lemmy.world -1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, anything not taken into training yet will not be available for the bot.

[–] Cybersec@piefed.social 1 points 2 hours ago

AI can definitely have web access enabled and use it all it likes, per whichever system’s choices.
