For the British: the things shown in the picture are spices. You add them to food to make it have taste.

[–] calmblue75@lemmy.ml 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

And, sugar is not a spice.

Beans are the protein.

[–] calmblue75@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 days ago

Nah, main ingredient.

Regardless of your take on the ethics of meat, this argument is nonsensical from either side.

Mixtures of things have different effects than their component parts.

It's like saying if the hot chocolate just tastes like the cocoa powder, why don't I just eat the cocoa powder?

Because the texture and nature of the water give it a property too.

Vegetarians and vegans just hate plants more than they love animals.

It’s the mineral eaters you really need to keep your eye on.

Clearly you are making this argument in seriousness and good faith, so excuse me while I spend a couple of nights and more paragraphs than anyone will read to fully articulate my carefully crafted rebuttal.

[–] r1veRRR@feddit.org 3 points 4 days ago

Umm, akshually, since animals eat so many plants, eating meat is the far more effective move for plant haters.

[–] Shih_Tzu_Farts@lemmy.zip 7 points 3 days ago

Seeing as I eat both, is fine

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 21 points 5 days ago (1 children)

It's crazy how many people got hurt by a meme in shitpost community.

Good job OP!

*Takes a bow*

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

This reminds me of a controversy among the carnivore diet community, where someone got smeared as a "vegan" for seasoning his meat, and really liking chili peppers.

[–] AnimalsDream@slrpnk.net 10 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Imagine how warped your mind has to be, to find spices and plants controversial.

Hey, last I checked, you have omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans. Pretty much no one is purely carnivore. Besides, I've never heard of an omnivore complain about having to eat "plants" (spices), unless it's a child who doesn't like broccoli or something.

[–] cass1312@piefed.blahaj.zone 48 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

There is actually a weird group of people doing a carnivore diet where you basically only eat animal products. Literally to the point of what the meme posted says of not eating like spices, or food cooked in olive oil. It's wild lol.

[–] frog@feddit.uk 17 points 5 days ago (5 children)

I follow some of those people.

What I learned is you shouldn't do it. Do you know what happens to your poop when you take out fiber from your diet? It just leaks out.

Others claim extreme constipation like 3 days. I don't know if I believe that.

[–] ThirdConsul@lemmy.zip 10 points 5 days ago (2 children)

extreme constipation like 3 days

Fun fact: this is not extreme. Extreme is more than a week. 3 days is the minimal threshold for constipation.

My wife add flavor at to meat, I like it just with salt.

The only plant I put on a steak is a little black pepper. I put more rocks (salt) on it than plants.

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 10 points 5 days ago (1 children)

The right spices enhance the flavor of the meat without overpowering it

[–] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 5 days ago

Same with vegitables and other foods. It's what herbs and spices do when used properly.

[–] ekZepp@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I like plant too. Why discriminate 🤷‍♂️

Meat is too delicious, I need to add a little plant based poison to it each time to avoid meat addiction.

[–] 666dollarfootlong@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago (9 children)

Didn't some meat-guy literally try to argue vegetables are toxic to humans or some shit

I've cut back on meat over the past couple of years, but I reserve the right to have a plate of chicken tenders when coping with emotional distress.

[–] AnimalsDream@slrpnk.net 3 points 3 days ago (2 children)

You ever try any of the plant-based tender type foods? Even if I wasn't already vegan, I'd still want to choose those over animal-based tenders just cause they're that good.

You probably downvoted one of the orbiting cult communities Jet polices and so he banned you from all of them. He bans anyone who downvotes those communities. Though now he does it by a proxy account these days by the looks.

So one of my favorite seasonings to add to hamburger, along with other beef and some pork stuff is..... Beef Bullion.

Now you may scoff at the idea of this redundancy, but give it a try next time you make hamburger or beef tacos or whatever. if not, you're missing out.

[–] Nouvellalia@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (2 children)

Now you should buy stock and use it instead of water in most cooking.

Or better yet, save ya bones and end pieces of meat and veg, brown it and use it to make your own. You can do this just before you cook, or whenever and just freeze or can it. If you go with the store stuff, buy stock based off of which one has the highest protein content.
