Then there's me, I'd just cut that last one in half.

My wife would be mad that there were no cubes.

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 1 points 6 minutes ago

I'd eat three

[–] kat_angstrom@lemmy.world 40 points 17 hours ago

This isn't a shitpost, it's a winpost

[–] krellor@fedia.io 125 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Aren't you supposed to just eat the 17th one so they cleanly fit?

[–] starik@lemmy.today 4 points 9 hours ago

Not if you’re trying to stage a viral tweet.

Rice crispy treats I think.

[–] krellor@fedia.io 39 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Honestly I can't quite tell. Could be tofu?

[–] deHaga@feddit.uk 8 points 21 hours ago

I thought they look like rockwool grow plugs, can't imagine chewing those, squeaky teeth!

We buy ground beef in bulk whenever it's on sale. Like 5 or 10 pounds at a time.

We freeze them in quart bags, one pound at a time, squish them flat, and stack them in the freezer.

So easy to slap in a pan and start frying for tacos or whatever.

We recently got a half dozen or so pounds of 1 pound tubes of ground beef gifted to us. And man, it sucks trying to cook those from frozen. Scraping at them and frying them. Bah.

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 1 points 11 hours ago

Cubed contraptions coagulate coarser

[–] HerbGrower@slrpnk.net 9 points 14 hours ago

There are other bags that are stacked above and below this one.

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 2 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

3D uses more space.

No, seriously. Causes more empty space.

[–] unitedwithme@lemmy.today 1 points 6 hours ago

Sort of. Let's say the 16 were to the brim and it won't zip with 17. You could fit an extra 4 by stacking it on top of those 16, and while it'd cause more "empty space" around those 4, there's enough "slack" in the baggie to allow it to fit.

[–] Derpenheim@lemmy.zip 53 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

God fucking dammit. Im so sick of seeing this fucking shit. When will I be free from this cursed knowledge

[–] Gladaed@feddit.org 4 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

17 is a cursed number anyway. So it does not matter

[–] gothic_lemons@lemmy.world 3 points 11 hours ago

How can it be cursed? It's a prime number for Optimus's sake!

[–] CrimeIsLegalNow@ani.social 24 points 19 hours ago

I think this actually does a better job than most explanations of why this is a practical excercise.

[–] Danarchy@lemmy.nz 27 points 19 hours ago

Easy way to pack sugar cubes to train my 17 horses. Neat!

[–] Zamboni_Driver@lemmy.ca 36 points 22 hours ago (3 children)

The fit is worse though lol. The cubes stick out further into the zipper than they did before.

[–] idegenszavak@sh.itjust.works 134 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

It references the actual optimal way to pack 17 squares in a square:

https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/17-squares-in-a-larger-square

[–] Zamboni_Driver@lemmy.ca 1 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

I know. But it didn't work here.

[–] ZoteTheMighty@lemmy.zip 46 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

It did. In the left image, the one cube on the top is too tall and the bag doesn't close properly. On the right image, more cubes are close to the top, but the bag fully closes.

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 4 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

Sadly the bag does seem to close in the left image.

Otherwise this would be my meme of the month.

[–] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world -4 points 16 hours ago

I'll give you that the bag on the left isn't closed, but I don't believe it can't be. I've squeezed enough blocks of cheese into sandwich bags to know what they look like when they won't close, and that bag could absolutely be closed. It's still funny for the meme though!

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 33 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Yes, but it closes with the optimal packing, and not with the naive one.

The only issue I have with that is that he couldn't have been training for many years.

A good time. Humanity was near its peak.

[–] a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world 19 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

You could wear pant legs as large as you wanted and nobody would raise an eyebrow.

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 9 points 19 hours ago

Especially considering most of the eyebrows were drawn on!

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago

It's coming around again...

That bag could definitely close, with more free space left than the other version by the looks of it.
