Younger brother tries to ragebait me with obtuse wrongness thinking he is being clever.
Pull uno reverse card on him with acute correctness and sociopathic level of patience.
It works and now he is insanely angry that he can't make me mad.
Continue to make him so angry he can't form coherent sentences.
He starts yelling at me and demands that I apologize

On Lemmy it's more like, I realised I was wrong 5 comments ago and now I'll just trying to soothe my ego by arguing semantics, but when I run out of things to say I'll just block everyone.

I love how everyone thinks they're master debaters here but would get absolutely dog-walked in any other setting. Or just laughed out of the room

The moment the convo stop being via text i am so cooked, i just cannot talk IRL without stammering(i also have those embarassing moments where i often forget a word in my language but not in english...)
Believe it or not, that's not really a disqualifier to competitors. The sport is pretty professional and uses a way different skillset than people realize, fluent unbroken english not being one of them

In an argument they will. That's not really what I'm talking about though, arguing is never not stupid, people do it just to debase themselves in front of their acquaintances in the hopes that they'll drag someone else down in the process.
Check this out, you don't have to watch the whole thing. But these people are the best in the world. The competition is formal and has a system, you aren't allowed to only debate things you personally support, there is no interrupting or rude behavior because people actually want to win for their universities. I don't even understand the point of making someone mad via text conversations. You can't see their face turn red with rage or hear the sounds they make, so it's not even funny. 🤷♂️
Engagement and data collection ... sometimes it's just a way to collect data. Anyone that responds gets added to their list of accounts that have a live person.
They do the same for telemarketing, email, mail, phone, sms, and any other contact request ... once there's a response, it's confirmation that the account has a human owner
