Why stop there? You could have fuel stored in veins across the whole car to increase storage. Above, under, front, back, nothing but good ole gas.

People are acting like these will just explode the moment an impact happens.

It would just pop and leak all the gas onto the ground and into waterways. This is a terrible idea for many reasons, but acting like it would increase car related deaths is sort of silly.
