I guess I'm a monster for liking a podcast going in the shower? THE HORROR!!
I mean, I just set my phone just outside the shower and turn the volume up a touch. Once upon a time I had a weatherproof bag I'd seal my phone in that was originally meant for a solar powered flashlight for emergency use. The bag was triple sealed and I doubt any steam reached the phone.

A whole lot of judgy comments throughout this thread. I've been bringing my phone into the shower for the past 15 years, and quit bagging them since all the flagship handsets were IP67 rated or stronger.
I accept the liability of it, and it has not been a problem for me by and large, and I have no regrets.
I would estimate as much as 5% or 8% of my phone use has been standing there in an enjoyably hot shower and listening to podcasts or puzzling through some idea (building an estimated moving cost to relocate to another market for example, and all its tax implications) or catching up on all the personal correspondence that I had ignored for the day.
If that makes me a monster, at least I'll be an specially clean one.
Yeah, I set mine on the ledge of the window sill and have never had a problem.
lol not a monster, but maybe clean yourself up for 5–10 minutes, then sit down in your couch or in a chair and do the things you mentioned, instead of standing in the shower.
Treat your brain to a relaxing time of cleaning yourself. We need that time off of everything that the human brain didn't evolve for, but we've been cleaning ourselves forever.
If you have time to do all that in the shower, you have time to do it out of the shower. You could hardly be saving time by doing it in the shower lol.

How long do you spend in the shower? Do you have time to turn off your brain for 5–10 minutes? I recommend it from time to time. Sometimes I even drive to work, or especially from work, without any audio on. It's surprisingly relaxing.
But maybe I'm talking to one of the generations who grew up with mobile phones. I imagine it's harder for them, poor things.

Just make sure they drink plenty of water first, urine is corrosive enough that it'll break down the seals in an IP67 phone and claiming the warranty for that one was... tricky.
I've had this same phone since Covid, and bring it into the shower every day for podcasts, music, or YouTube videos.
Still works great! It might need charge in the evening after heavy use, but what 6 year old phone wouldn't?
I used to have a perfectly working system with a waterproof bag-thing for the phone and a bluetooth speaker somewhere outside of the shower so I could watch youtube videos while just chilling in the shower.
Also had one of those long 1920s cigarette holders so I could smoke a joint in there. I made a good time out of it.

I've done it before. Time-constrained, watching something interesting.
These days I'll shower with a resistant earbud in, listening to music. I shower early/late and don't want the music to wake my partner. (probably less likely than the shower itself, but that's how i roll)
Always wild concept to me. People bringing their $1000 electronics into an environment not made for them. Like come on, how long are you in the shower, do you really need to be entertained while washing your body?
I’ve noticed an increasing number of people that use their phone the entire time they’re at the urinal in public restrooms. This takes what? A minute tops? I’ve also seen people set it next to the sink to keep looking while washing their hands…assuming they even do to begin with.

Tech addiction is tough. When people don't like their environment they try to escape it and unfortunately the black mirror is there waiting for them. It's not productive but it provides comfort.

Back before smartphones, when everyone was bleaching the tattletale to get the phone warrantied after getting even a little water near it, there was a rumor going around. Kids with friends in Japan were hearing that people over there had waterproof cellphones and would be talking while in the shower. We were super jealous, not for shower talking, but for the feature. I’d think ICP rated phones today should be able to handle some humidity.
There are Insane Clown Posse rated phones!? I need one of those because I keep killing mine because I spill Faygo on it.
