Cats are plagued by almost supernatural reflexes, no one is more surprised about this than the cats.

The two cat modes of operation: sloth and beyblade

House cats average 10 to 12 pounds, they're on the small side of the feline family, so while they are predators, they're also prey. So they've got basically the same startle response as a squirrel: Explode. Leap into the air limbs akimbo and scramble around until you land then figure it out from there. Aeons of natural selection has apparently selected that as the most successful strategy for small surprised quadrupeds.

almost supernatural reflexes

For real, that video of the mama barn cat in India fighting a fucking KING COBRA to protect her litter is out of this world... Even as a cat lover I was hesitant to watch because of what I thought were impossible odds, then she absolutely bitchsmacks it repeatedly and it just physically isn't fast enough to strike her.

My cat is a himbo with no fear response, he doesn’t have enough brain cells for fear or mistrust, or landing on his feet.

On the fourth of July my asshole neighbors were setting off mortars that sounded like actual gunshots and instead of running or freaking out he ran up to the window to see what was happening and get closer to the action. He jumped on the back of a chair because he was excited for treats and knocked it over, causing a chain reaction of chaos, and never was he concerned about anything but getting his treats, I don’t think he even noticed. There are a bunch of loud biker assholes that do a group ride by my apartment all the time and every time they do he jumps up in the window and excitedly meows like he wants to get in on it.

Our boy is the same way, absolutely bomb proof. He didn't even notice the 4th of July happening. He has some mistrust of the vacuum and gets out of the way if it's coming towards him, but otherwise just sits and stares at it like 'the fuck is this thing so loud for?', whereas our previous girl would flee under the furniture the second the vacuum emerged.

The way I knew he actually might have hurt himself after a recent tumble during his antics was that he crawled under the furniture to hide, something he hasn't done in almost a year with us. He was fine, he stopped limping in less than a day and learned absolutely nothing!

My grandfather recalled the Korean War more fondly than my cat reacts to a sneeze.

What the hell happened to that car?

[–] Janx@piefed.social 20 points 5 days ago

Judging by my anxious cat, someone probably casually walked around the corner.

[–] BurgerBaron@quokk.au 3 points 5 days ago

A bad day for that Rally car driver's spine whatever they did.

Must be from a movie of some kind. There doesn't seem to be a back axle at all. To make a fancy explosion scene, they've kind of partially put the car together so that when it's pushed up by some form of an explosion or by some cable on its roof or whatevers, the various parts would jump into random directions more beautifully.

I'd say it's an intentional effect.

Each wheel looks like it's on a short pivot arm thats then connected a little to the front

[–] Lehmuusa@nord.pub 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Then it was probably designed to hop. What a cool feature!

[–] spacehulk@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 days ago

Or it's just a really cheap suspension. Like a torsion bar they use on small utility trailers that don't use shocks

[–] tostiman@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

My best guess is that this picture was taken while the car was rolling sideways

[–] BigDanishGuy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 days ago

That would explain the dirt above the car

Rocket League looking shit lately.
