The question is, how many states will you visit during that drive through Germany?
Yeah, the creators of the meme kind of bungled the punchline by choosing another federation as the European example. Because you literally will drive through several German states as well.
They should have chosen France or Poland, or Sweden, I think most people underestimates how big Sweden is in an European perspective.

You didn't really need to jog over to Marfa though.
You should check out Western Australia. Texas is tiny in comparison.
Edit to add:
There's a joke that if you wanna piss off a Texan tell them we should cut Alaska in half and make TX the 3rd biggest state. Western Australia is still bigger though.
