Stupid little shitlings being aggressively stupid are upset that doing the dumbest fucking thing possible didn't work out for them.

Some important details on how GenZ voted:

Young voters favored Kamala Harris over Donald Trump in the 2024 election by 4 points: 51% to 47%. That was a much smaller margin than young voters gave President Biden over Trump in 2020 (+25), but still by far the strongest support for Harris of any age group in this election.

Source

It's a manosphere issue, it was 56% of GenZ men getting lost in the right wing incel movement:

Young women preferred Harris to Trump by a 17-point margin: 58% to 41%. But young men preferred Trump by a 14-point margin: 56% to 42%.

(Same source as above)

I try not to stereotype the entire generation, but the male contingent needs a serious mental scrubbing and readjustment of what masculinity really means.

Democrats need to run better candidates. Why are we constantly forced to choose between shit and slightly-less-shit?

[–] Sina@beehaw.org 3 points 3 hours ago

Candidates with corporate overlord approval are almost always shit.

yea. along with everyone else who listened to a con man instead of millions of people screaming he's a con man. a failure at business. and a rapist, pedophile, convicted fucking felon-- this is ignoring the tens of thousands of lies spewing from his face hole every minute. top 5 most embarrassing shameful bullshit periods in the country's history

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago

Oh it's on top and it's not even close

[–] logana@lemmychan.org 1 points 4 hours ago

The democrats are so bad, Donald fucking Trump won 2 presidential elections.

The "fall in line" approach isn't working and all of the stupid pieces of shit promoting it deserve to suffer until they learn better.

[–] scops@reddthat.com 4 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

The issue is they've all been raised in an underfunded public school system that has done nothing to prepare them for the massive misinformation campaigns that have inundated Americans as long as these kids have been alive.

They are the payoff on a perverse investment that goes back to Reagan's days.

[–] Z745812939054@lemmy.zip 2 points 5 hours ago

we can only hope they learned a little lesson from this colossal disaster they rooted for

top 5 most embarrassing shameful bullshit periods in the country's history

US: *nukes Hiroshima and Nagasaki*
WORLD: "Holy shit! These fuckers are crazy!"

US: *re-elects Trump, even after the leak of Project 2025*
WORLD: "Holy shit! These fuckers are stupid!"

spoilerDumbass.

[–] Z745812939054@lemmy.zip 8 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

i was thinking native american genocide and slavery, but yea...there's a lot of shameful bullshit in our history. which makes me want to add (so i will), the GOP is desperately trying to eradicate these events from our history education, while simultaneously accusing people of "trying to erase our history" by removing confederate statues. it's absolutely fucking mind-boggling. and racist bigoted nazi inbred hick maga voters lap it up like hogs at the trough

it's hard to imagine living life being so fucking gullible

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 3 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

The list is so long. I picked the nukes because they tested the nukes, they knew what they would do. They chose not to bomb Tokyo because they needed someone left alive to surrender. They did it...twice. Almost completely consisting of civilian casualties.

Most of my fellow Americans do not carry shame for it. I do.

[–] musicalphysics@discuss.online 1 points 1 hour ago

America also engaged in a sustained fire bombing campaign that killed hundreds of thousands.

[–] Z745812939054@lemmy.zip 5 points 12 hours ago

and every generation fewer people really get more than a paragraph in history class about japanese americans who had nothing to do with anything, but were tossed into internment camps.

now, it's anyone who's not 100% white, citizen or not, criminal history or not-- ICE can fucking murder you and face zero consequences. what progress we've made....

[–] FartsWithAnAccent@lemmy.world -2 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

Nuking imperial Japan? That is the example you went with? Really???

[–] Z745812939054@lemmy.zip 2 points 10 hours ago

what's the problem?

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 6 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

No one is on the same page regarding news and hasn’t been since Covid. This is encouraged because it negates any kind of unity among working class.

Even people living in the same house are functioning off of different information threads.

You assume these people read what you read, listened to what you listened to. They very likely did not.

[–] Z745812939054@lemmy.zip 3 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago) (1 children)

when something big happens, for example covid, and you have information sources calling it a "hoax," while other sources are reporting on the daily mounting death toll, and also people you know are dying, AND you choose to side with the sources calling the whole thing "fake news" despite evidence you see with your own eyes, then the problem isn't that you don't have access to good information, the problem is that you're a cultist, and believe what you're told to believe, instead of believing that reality is real

climate change is another in-your-face example

as an aside, one of the first things our shiny new fascist government did upon taking over was to cripple research having to do with covid and climate change. now, why would they do that? because if there's no evidence, then there's no crime. this is that critical thinking piece they're so aggressively removing from the curriculum. and obviously succeeding

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 4 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

I encountered two lovely morsels of human behavior today.

One, a coworker was being strongly discouraged by their spouse to not get a flu shot, because “potential vaccine damage”.

Two, an individual who was asked about the receipt of blood products didn’t want to receive blood products tainted by the covid vaccine. (There is no recorded difference, no way to distinguish.). Another individual was refusing all blood products, while in a potential bleed out state, for the same reason. The first one ultimately changed their mind saying they’d rather live if it was needed but the latter stood firm.

The point being, misinformation can stick, right up the point of staring death in the face.

Even the Tylenol thing. People have refused it because they “heard something” about it being bad for them.

People follow their own threads. Even when they lead here.

[–] Z745812939054@lemmy.zip 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

because they “heard something” about it being bad for them.

it's true, misinformation can stick. my point stands--the ability to discern credible, reliable, plausible, realistic, etc. information from bullshit is a skill (again, critical thinking), and it's being deliberately hobbled by people who don't want you to pay attention to what's actually happening, but what they want you to believe is happening instead.

"people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it."

https://phdn.org/archives/www.ess.uwe.ac.uk/documents/osssection3pt1.htm

at what point would you say that individuals are responsible for the decisions they make, based on information/misinformation, when both categories abound?

to my mind, if someone still voted for trump because they believed a single goddamn word out of this mouth after the first bullshit term, then that's 100% on them

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 1 points 17 minutes ago

Sure, but is the equipment to do so present? The training? Education is key, but, sadly, not everyone can be taught.

[–] RBWells@lemmy.world 0 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I refuse Tylenol because it does nothing for pain and just makes me feel vaguely nauseous. It's worse than nothing, in my experience. So no.

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 1 points 20 minutes ago

Nah, this is stated as “I heard something” or “didn’t they find out it hurts babies?” Specific to maga misinformation.

Yeah. It’s hard having empathy for those fuckers now. We said it, we discuss it, we explain it multiple times and with many many ways and they only said racist bullshit « why you go ? I only want to discuss ! Snow flake » Now they’re crying foul and I’m supposed to be « ho no poor baby » fuck that

[–] Murse@slrpnk.net 13 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Cut em some slack, it's not like they were warned that this would happen, as loudly and frequently as possible, as evidenced by the same person soiling the same office one term previously and likewise having disastrous results.

Like, totally out of the blue!

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago

Andrew Tate knows better evidently

[–] the_q@piefed.social 7 points 11 hours ago (3 children)

Gen Z and Boomers lack critical thinking skills that lead to emotional and poor decisions.

[–] logana@lemmychan.org 1 points 4 hours ago

Same goes for the generation(s) in between.

The average person is a fucking idiot and gets taken advantage of for it every day.

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 5 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

That lack of critical thinking skills is a direct and predictable result of everyone’s lack of effort to defend education. They’re victims of this too. We all are.

[–] logana@lemmychan.org 1 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

"Education" is not the solution you people think it is. We need to fundamentally change our culture in order to move in a better direction.

Greed, entitlement, consumerism, apathy; all of these need to stop being so socially acceptable and easily fewer than 2% of the people I come across ever mention it.

[–] the_q@piefed.social 1 points 8 hours ago

True to a certain extent. The education system is trash, but knowledge is out there. There is a lack of curiosity coupled with an in overestimating one's intelligence. Boomers are an excellent example of the narcissistic belief they're always wished while gen Z leans more into the lack of curiosity side.

[–] RickyRigatoni@piefed.zip 7 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Don't forget that Gen X skewed their votes for Trump and Millenials were split 50/50. It's a lack of critical thinking skills that lead to emotional and poor decisions all the way down in this shithole country.

[–] the_q@piefed.social 2 points 11 hours ago

True enough.

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 2 points 12 hours ago

I still don’t understand how the visceral response to raging, untreated Cluster B isn’t to run screaming in the opposite direction. And yet, here we are.
