When a flag is so tattered that it can no longer serve as a symbol of the United States, it should be destroyed in a dignified manner, preferably by burning.

What about if the country is so tattered?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Nothing unconstitutional about that.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

At least for now. Won't be once it goes to the White Supremacist Court.

Conservatives have the weirdest boner for flags, and against flagburning. A thing that almost never happens.

[–] MountingSuspicion@reddthat.com 21 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

This is likely to apply more to conservatives than anyone else. Slapping words on a flag? Desecration. Using it for advertising? Desecration. Adding symbols (like guns)? Desecration. It's not going to be enforced like that, but the hypocrisy is real.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

The conservatives wallow in hypocrisy. These were the same assfucks that were calling themselves free speech absolutists, too.

As usual, they are absolutely full of shit.

It'll probably be happening a lot more now

I have the urge… to buy a bunch of Made in China flags… and do some arts and crafts.

Flag burning happens all the time, mostly done by the Scouts.

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago

Yup, 8 year old me was clearly a criminal.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 3 points 7 hours ago

Also proper retirement of flags is done in a pyre. I was in boy scouts when I was a kid and we had to do it semi frequently.

Trump need to be targeted by the high cholesterol and sodium in this body and die.

"The Attorney General shall prioritize the enforcement to the fullest extent possible of our Nation’s criminal and civil laws against acts of American Flag desecration that violate applicable, content-neutral laws, while causing harm unrelated to expression, consistent with the First Amendment" If I am reading this correctly, all the Trump enthusiasts desecrating a flag with their diesel exhaust while speeding/road rage/DUI should all be round up. So vague in wording not even describing what desiccating the flag means...

[–] noxypaws@pawb.social 20 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

I'd burn a flag in protest but it's not worth the price of buying a flag

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 5 points 6 hours ago

Especially with those tariffs.

[–] optissima@lemmy.ml 14 points 9 hours ago

Burn other peoples flags

[–] not_that_guy05@lemmy.world 22 points 9 hours ago

One year? Eh I'll still do it as it is my freedom of speech.

So in other words, FUCK YOU!

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 8 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Is there toilet paper with the US flag? I have the urge to wipe my arse with it.

[–] Rocketpoweredgorilla@lemmy.ca 10 points 8 hours ago

Isn't the pedo-in-charge already doing that? Oh no wait, that's the constitution...
