Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

If you're wondering about who this bill is actually targeting...

"Pornography, manifested today in the omnipresent propagation of transgender ideology and sexualization of children, for instance, is not a political Gordian knot inextricably binding up disparate claims about free speech, property rights, sexual liberation, and child welfare," it states. "It has no claim to First Amendment protection." ___

It's also targeting cishet vanilla porn. Fighting this is going to involve prudish trans people working alongside gooning transphobes.

Is there a porn genre where someone reads you an academic queer theory tome? I think a lot of Senators could benefit from sapiosexual gooning, and C-SPAN could broadcast some thrilling filibusters

This guy is definitely jerking off dudes at rest stops.

[–] maniclucky@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Or grooming children at church.

[–] solsangraal@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

meanwhile the outrage over church rapings remains completely nonexistent

The good news is that a large portion of the top pornography sites are owned by a Canadian company. The true north strong and actually free.

Okay but that doesn't have any bearing on Palantir planting spyware into every American personal computer and deciding if your browsing habits are considered terrorism and taking you to a blacksite because you looked at an AI image of Lola bunny naked.

There is no good news here. If you're not actively calling your Senators and demanding privacy and threatening grassroots campaigns to get them removed from office, you are letting them take away your most personal freedoms.

It's honestly not much at this point, but even a single deciding vote could delay this fascist takeover of our personal lives.

Step 1: outlaw porn Step 2: call LGBTQ folks pornographic Step 3: outlaw LGBTQ folks You see where this is going. Outlawing porn is laughable and stupid. But then you see the hidden agenda and it's fucking horrifying.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Step 4: get caught with literal LGBTQ pornography

You forgot the step in between that mandates Palantir to embed spyware into every personal PC to monitor what you look at and report your deepest secrets to an agency with AI tools designed to judge if your kinks are dangerous to society or if reading historical accounts of slavery can be considered "pornographic."

Guys, this is VERY serious, they are going to start locking people up for looking at material that they decide if it's obscene or not. This should be getting spammed on every gaming board, 4-chan, Asmondgold's subreddit, every fucking place that out-of-touch gaming chuds hang out and tell them very clearly that their support for Trump is going to get them locked up for looking at hentai.

I wonder how many people have tried to flat out ban porn throughout the years.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

While it's not a new idea, every time has led to suffering and persecution, and it should be taken seriously every time they try because it's not about porn, it's about controlling and monitoring a population and removing "threats" to the new order they are trying to establish.
