because the UK spent so long as the dominant world power and just saturated all international discourse

From what I've heard, German was still the go-to international language in academia until WW2, when it fell out of favor and US' post-war boom took over. So it's a bit more complicated.

TBF Microsoft also don't know how to make things look and feel right. For ages, their primary UI design tools were a toolbar crammed with buttons end to end, a vertical list crammed with items, and a table crammed with items row by row — culminating in Windows 8's tiles. MS didn't understand that people need spatial organization, spacing and margins, and only recently started separating toolbar buttons with white space in their apps.

Meanwhile principles of grouping are any designer's most basic tools. One could make good design with sticks and mud if they follow the principles.

There's some nuance in that

a) I treat US politics as entertainment for the last ten years — seeing Trump crush over Mamdani, are you kidding, it's top kek;

b) I like to know the zeitgeist on the platform where I spend time;

and c) US politics are in almost every major community anyway, regardless of its topic — just like on Reddit.

I wouldn't mind not seeing twenty posts about Peter Whatshisname Kegsbreath missile-ing Venezuelan fishermen. I got it the first time.

I've just recently moved, and I barely see any difference. Same US politics dawn to dusk, just more Linux and commies.

KeePass is a local app, dummy. It doesn't use any ‘service’.

At least getting Copilot to review stuff makes sense if it catches something that people miss, or just to catch more-obvious stuff before having a final review by the project owner.
