TBF Microsoft also don't know how to make things look and feel right. For ages, their primary UI design tools were a toolbar crammed with buttons end to end, a vertical list crammed with items, and a table crammed with items row by row โ€” culminating in Windows 8's tiles. MS didn't understand that people need spatial organization, spacing and margins, and only recently started separating toolbar buttons with white space in their apps.

Meanwhile principles of grouping are any designer's most basic tools. One could make good design with sticks and mud if they follow the principles.
