I mean yes, that sort of corruption also needs addressing.

But it isn't fair to exclude people from well-paying jobs just because they used to serve the public at one time. There's plenty of legitimate reasons why one might move on to a well-paying job, that doesn't involve favours being passed around.

The myth stands because the economy usually takes 2 to 4 years to catch up after major political changes.

That was apparent under Biden as well as Obama. Hell, Obama inherited the whole 2007-2008 crash, and pulled the US out of it like no other county managed. Compared to W who literally got the singular most nation-uniting event dropped on his lap, and fucked it up so much that the US suffered the most from the dot-com crash...

Donnie inherited Obama's good economy and within two years there were clear signs of him fucking shit up so bad... But people blamed Biden for it, because he inherited most of the shit, and only in the last year of his presidency did things begin to visibly improve.

And don't forget, most people are morons and incredibly easy to mislead. Just how many denounce Biden's response to COVID when it was the orange shitsack who was President for most of it? And that's only been 5 years ago. You seriously expect the same idiots to remember the past 20-30-40 years? Or have enough reasoning skills to look at collated data going back a hundred years showing how policies affected the economy (specifically the economy the average people experiencing, not talking about the Fortune 500 doing well or some other crap metric)?

This is the stupidest fucking thing I've read today and I've read some proper dumbass takes in the past 12 hours... But this still takes the cake.

No, citizenship based taxation will only ever hurt the average people - those who want to hide their wealth WILL find a way around it.

The only proper solution is to tax wealth above a certain limit, up to 100% tax at one point, and make hiding wealth a criminal offence. Investigate anyone who seems considerably more wealthy than what their tax reports state, and go full confiscation + prison sentence for hidden wealth.

Plus, family and friends won't care. Oh no, you were horny and did something dumb? Ain't nobody can say they haven't done anything similar. Shit happens.

Besides, nowadays revenge porn laws are super strict - any image/video released publicly would be taken down quite quickly, and it wouldn't stick around to haunt you. At most your mum will get an eyeful of yer cock and it's not like she hasn't seen it before, or would do anything with it besides delete it and block whoever sent it.

Did you not know that the hallmark sign of innocence is using every power you have - let it be real or perceived - to discredit and destroy and hide any and all evidence?

See, THIS is what modern technology was supposed to bring.

It's so hard to organise a hangout with friends. Nobody knows when they're available because they don't have a proper calendar. Everyone just lives their life one day at a time, having no clue if they'll be free next Tuesday for a pint or two. It's so annoying.

The moment you start using a semi-public calendar, things become so much easier. People don't need to see your events, just free/busy blocks. And when you want to organise something for a dozen people, that level of knowledge, combined with some AI (ain't nobody got time to find a free time slot that's good for everyone!), sorts these things out so quickly.

Sure, some 30% still won't turn up but at least it's not an endless "X can't make it next Tuesday, next Thursday would be good except Y and Z are out of town, etc etc". I have your emails, I have your availability calendars, let's make it happen. Boom. Pub time scheduled in 5 minutes.

That really depends on the jurisdiction.

In the UK, it is mandatory to provide your actual address for most positions, for example.

Portability is not really an aspect one needs to consider when it comes to a NAS. Performance hits? Z1 will have performance issues when running in a simple mirror (especially for writes), but with 4+ disks that reduces significantly.

Sure scrubs will take longer on a multi-disk array, but again for a home NAS, the goal is maximising data storage capacity without a major hit on performance, ideally being able to saturate the most common gigabit LAN connection and have some more bandwidth available for local processing.

You're incredibly wrong on your assumptions here.

First of all, ZFS (the file system TrueNAS specialises for) is best used with at least 3-4 disks. The more the better. A dual disk setup for ZFS (or any other kind of RAID) is super wasteful.

Second, no, 4TB won't be enough. You think it is today, but soon you'll be downloading ~~media~~ Linux ISOs and quickly realise that even 16TB is a stretch within a year.

My recommendation would be going for at least 4x 4TB, but 3-4x 6TB or even 8TB would be probably preferred. And similarly, I'd rather overshoot the initial purchase rather than realise 6-8 months in that oops, the 2-4 disk system you got isn't enough... Even if you don't fill the bays, I'd recommend you go for at least a 4 bay system, but rather, for 6. Sadly, SOHO NASes aren't designed with easy expandability down the line.

Oh I fully agree with you. Marketing in general is one of the most evil business segments - only a notch above phone scammers, really. All of it is edged out not to actually market a product but to sell it to you no matter what. Doesn't matter if you need it, or if you can afford it, or if what they say about the product is true or not, the goal is to sell sell sell. Nothing else matters but taking your money.
