A thing I've noticed on the Fediverse is obvious virtue-signaling dog piling with a twist: logic is also a virtue people want to signal. But people are increasingly incapable of genuine reasoning. So they try to ape logic anyway. They go through the motions of what they think reasoning looks like. It's like watching a 6 year old try to use big words to sound smart. And they get validated for it, because the conclusions they started with align with the social group. It's painful to see.

If it makes you feel better, that $77 billion was just numbers in a ledger. Vapor bucks. It was just a representation of Zuckerburg's power in society, which is now gone. It's not like $77 billion in food or housing vanished. The financial economy is mostly not backed by real things.

I thought for sure that if nothing else, the CIA would have done it. He got a ton of them killed for no reason last time. Seems like it would have been simple self-preservation.

I've found that you can experience the world as a child at least one more time. If you're older than 30 and haven't tried weed yet, you're in for a treat. One of the best experiences of my life was being stoned for the first time, wandering around my garden looking at leaves and bugs and stuff.

Not sure if I'm coining a term here. I meant people whose primary existential concern right now is ChatGPT becoming Skynet and enslaving or hunting humanity to extinction. There are hundreds of them on r/collapse on reddit. Apparently there's a whole youtube rabbit hole that convinces people of this. Edit: I guess I would also include people who think LLMs will imminently--and actually--replace all human workers; as opposed to human workers being laid off due to promises from AI salespeople that could never live up to reality.

I've had this conversation too many times to not make a meme out of it.

Same. Seems like a ton of people would actually like being cursed with telepathy that you can't turn off, being forced to share and receive every thought that crosses the mind.

Unfortunately not. The word for this is "dictatorship." There are and have been plenty of those that aren't failed states. Democracy is a historical anomaly, not the norm. The failed state part is coming, but we're not there yet.

DANGER: HACKING TOO MUCH TIME

The other things going on don't get as much clicks. Need to seek it out specifically.

I read that cannibalistic tribes found white people tasted like ripe banana. Much tastier than their own dudes.

That's why pastoral tribes were nomadic. Munch, fertilize, rotate.

If I wanted to subject myself to repeated brute-force political messaging, I'd watch cable news.
