We're Democrats in the House and Senate. We love DEI, transgender for everyone, healthcare for illegals and shutting down the government! We couldn't care less if our military gets paid or Americans' safety.

The Department of Homeland Security says it intends to add state driver’s license information to a swiftly expanding federal system envisioned as a one-stop shop for checking citizenship.

The plan, outlined in a public notice posted Thursday, is the latest step in an unprecedented Trump administration initiative to pool confidential data from varied sources that it claims will help identify noncitizens on voter rolls, tighten immigration enforcement and expose public benefit fraud.

According to emails obtained by ProPublica and The Texas Tribune, DHS approached Texas officials in June about a pilot program to add the state’s driver license data, but it’s not clear if the state participated.

Earlier this year, DHS added millions of Americans’ Social Security data to the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements, or SAVE, system, allowing officials to use the tool to conduct bulk searches of voter rolls for the first time. According to the document filed Thursday, SAVE also recently expanded to include passport and visa information.

It is a pairing that few could have predicted: a former Canadian prime minister and an American pop star who has toured the world and reached the edge of space.

Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry have made it official. The couple were spotted holding hands in Paris last weekend as they left the Crazy Horse cabaret, where they had been celebrating Perry's 41st birthday.

While they may seem an unlikely duo, Trudeau and Perry – who have both been in the spotlight for the better part of the last decade – have more in common than some might think. And their budding romance is not entirely unprecedented in Canadian political history.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said that he has apologised to US President Donald Trump over an anti-tariff advertisement which had used a Ronald Reagan quote.

Last week, in response to the advert, Trump suspended trade talks with Canada and said he would impose an additional 10% tariff on Canadian imports.

"I did apologise to the president," Carney told reporters at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in South Korea on Saturday.

The commercial used a series of clips from former President Reagan's 1987 national radio address, in which he argued that tariffs would hurt America's economy.

Donald Trump has replaced an experienced admiral with a 33-year-old with no naval experience.

A 33-year-old DOGE employee was tapped to run the U.S. Navy’s science and technology arm, though she appears to have no experience with the U.S. Navy, science, or technology, The Bulwark reported Thursday.

Dr. Rachel Riley was chosen to replace Rear Admiral Kurt Rothenhaus as chief of naval research, where he has served since 2023. The Office of Naval Research is responsible for disbursing billions of dollars in grants and contracts to benefit the Navy, and has historically been led by an active duty flag officer, according to USNI News.

Riley previously worked as a partner at McKinsey & Company, and completed a Ph.D. in social policy and an M.Sc. in contemporary Chinese from Oxford, according to her LinkedIn. She joined the ranks at DOGE and was assigned to the Department of Health and Human Services, where Politico reported she pushed for massive layoffs earlier this year.

Two federal judges in the United States have ruled that the administration of President Donald Trump cannot suspend food assistance to low-income individuals, signalling that the government must draw from contingency funds as a government shutdown drags on.

Friday’s decisions were released within minutes of one another, and both concerned the fate of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, known as SNAP.
