If we are being honest, there's clearly a media campaign being run. It's probably to easily pass laws that would kill open source and cement a monopoly for the big players. I don't think the sentiment is as organic as it looks.

I also think some 3 letter organizations might be running it, since running a jail broken model on your own hardware lets you recherche things that would get instantly flagged if you used Google. China could be in on it too, since having foreign countries turn their backs on easily accessible AI and popping the bubble probably suits them.
