A place to share alternatives to popular online services that can be self-hosted without giving up privacy or locking you into a service you don't control.

Rules:

  1. Be civil: we're here to support and learn from one another. Insults won't be tolerated. Flame wars are frowned upon.

  2. No spam posting.

  3. Posts have to be centered around self-hosting. There are other communities for discussing hardware or home computing. If it's not obvious why your post topic revolves around selfhosting, please include details to make it clear.

  4. Don't duplicate the full text of your blog or github here. Just post the link for folks to click.

  5. Submission headline should match the article title (don’t cherry-pick information from the title to fit your agenda).

  6. No trolling.

  7. No low-effort posts. This is subjective and will largely be determined by the community member reports.

Don't know if anyone uses it, but I use it a LOT. It's the main way i consume media. It's no longer maintained as of a month ago. Hopefully someone forks it.

One thing to note is that this is not software you expose publicly at all so it not being maintained isn’t the biggest deal in the world. The main concern will be media plays making changes that break it long term. And if you’re a an Emby/Jellyfin user, those softwares develop at a snails pace so you should be good for awhile.

LOL… seriously I was like low key annoyed at JellyFin for… ya’ know, not being Plex for a minute, and then I actually looked at the ShitHub repo… it’s 8 dudes. Egg on muh face 🤯

can second this.

I use Mango manga reader and have been personally maintaining it for the last two years.

the recent crackdown on manga sites has made it difficult to continue maintaining it though...
