Flippant Anarchism. A lighter take on social criticism with the aim of agitation.

Post humorous takes on capitalism and the states which prop it up. Memes, shitposting, screenshots of humorous good takes, discussions making fun of some reactionary online, it all works.

This community is anarchist-flavored. Reactionary takes won't be tolerated.

Don't take yourselves too seriously. Serious posts go to !anarchism@lemmy.dbzer0.com

  1. If you post images with text, endeavour to provide the alt-text

  2. If the image is a crosspost from an OP, Provide the source.

  3. Absolutely no right-wing jokes. This includes "Anarcho"-Capitalist concepts.

  4. Absolutely no redfash jokes. This includes anything that props up the capitalist ruling classes pretending to be communists.

  5. No bigotry whatsoever. See instance rules.

  6. This is an anarchist comm. You don't have to be an anarchist to post, but you should at least understand what anarchism actually is. We're not here to educate you.

  7. No shaming people for being anti-electoralism. This should be obvious from the above point but apparently we need to make it obvious to the turbolibs who can't control themselves. You have the rest of lemmy to moralize.

If you hate against Dems, even if it's the same amount as GOP, and you dont topple the regime and fix the democracy first, you will just help the GOP.

Translation to plain English: successfully overthrow the entire system or meekly accept everything the lesser evil offers you without complaints, no matter how evil.

Let's be real

Yes, let's.

Your pretending that all criticism of the shortcomings of Dems amounts to support for the fascists is the same thing as fascists do when semi-fascists who ACTUALLY support the fascists dare mildly question Dear Leader.

So you just make the GOP stronger, talking like that, in the current situation.

On the contrary: you're making the GOP stronger by enabling the fecklessness of their so-called opposition.

I don't see this potential in the US.

Of course you wouldn't, being an unwitting part of the problem yourself.

Stifling all dissent in a misguided attempt at not making an unresponsive party look bad makes that party look WORSE and thus LESS likely to attract the votes it needs in order to win elections.

Americans falling for the same old scam of a fake democracy over and over and over again. 2 heads, 1 monster.

Overthrow the government, or vote for the lesser evil. Yes. Those are the options. The lesser evil here is pushing for as many progressives in primaries and then voting dem. Overthrow includes a massive non-ending strike with coordinated goals. But even that seems impossible. So vote accordingly. What else is there to do?

I've never heard of a government being overthrown by a strike. I'm not sure, but most successful attempts stormed government buildings, arrested and executed the leaders or forced them to flee into exile.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_coups_and_coup_attempts_by_country I only found 1964 The October Revolution in Sudan and one that stopped a coup in Berlin.

Not overthrown per se, but dramatically change directions maybe. Especially for a government beholden to the billionaires if they actually start to lose money, power.

they have enough money to sit this out tho.

and it won't be lasting fix, because the old and rotten power structures will still be in place. (like trump reverted things his predecessors did. as soon as he was back in power, for example.)
